My villagers don't seem to get sick anymore?

So I've kinda been wondering why my town's villagers aren't getting sick anymore ever since about 3 years ago, and if I'm the only one who experiences this until today? It's definitely not because I continued playing ACNL on a new 2DS XL in the meantime ever since nearly 1½ year(s) ago (the clock also got transferred to the new console while transferring files wirelessly), I don't think the Welcome Amiibo update is involved either, and neither is it because I changed my town's ordinance from a rich to a beautiful town ever since last February. So yeah, in the meantime, the medicine at T&T Emporium are just aimlessly sitting around there catching dust, while I only occasionally get stung by 'bees'/wasps and then get free medicine from the villagers whenever I feel like speaking to them.

Does anyone know? Thanks in advance!

I got New Leaf after the Welcome Amiibo update and my villagers have never been sick. I think they removed it with the update, but since I didn't play before then I'm not certain.

Yep, started playing again after downloading Welcome Amiibo and none of my villagers have been sick, I'm pretty sure sick villagers were removed from the game.

Sickness was removed entirely in the Welcome Amiibo update, because of a glitch where sick villagers would end up moving out without informing the player. Now the only real purpose medicine serves is healing bee stings, which is purely cosmetic anyway.

I see. So that's most likely why Welcome Amiibo got that 2nd update (version 1.5) back around the end of 2016 and the start of 2017.

Yeah, I’m kinda sad they removed the feature entirely instead of fixing the glitch, but maybe the devs just didn’t have time enough to do that

It has been four years since the update and none of my villagers have gotten sick at all. I suppose it may have something to do with the game's code that might've caused things to have unintended side effects.

Kinda sucks that they remvoed the sick thing from villagers, because I actually liked that little detail. I remember when Gala got sick and Skye.

I think the saddest part about the sick villager feature being removed is that the writers took their time to write some funny dialogue, and now it’s gone. You can’t access that dialogue unless you have the original, update-less version of the game. Kind of scary when you think about it.

Yeah, my game is Welcome Amiibo and when I first got the game, I stocked up on medicine thinking that they would get sick like in Wild World. Until I realised that your villagers can‘t get sick in Welcome Amiibo, I still have that stock up of medicine only using it when I get stung by bees.

Yeah I've never experienced any villagers getting sick because my cartridge had the welcome amiibo update on it already. It probably added a bit of variety into the game especially when the villagers' dialogue can be very repetitive at times. But I guess that glitch was just too much of a problem but it's definitely not great having villagers just moving out without being able to talk to them about it.

“Welcome amiibo” update was in November 2016.

With that update was the elimination of any villagers getting sick and in need of medicine.

I was sad about losing that facet of gameplay as well. It was a nice way to do something really helpful and sweet for them. I’m glad they brought it back in ACNH.

I can't believe that I never noticed this! I play WW and NH in addition to NL so I guess it never occurred to me to notice that the villager don't get sick in New Leaf. This is really interesting and honestly makes me sad. Silly as it sounds since it's not that hard to imagine it makes me wonder what sick villagers in new leaf look like. I was late to begin new leaf so I have never seen a villager sick. Weird. I guess I have seen them sick in happy home designer when I visit my decorated hospital though.

Yeah with the Welcome Amiibo they took that feature out of New Leaf
