My villagers don't get sick anymore?

I recently realized that it has been a really long time since a villager has caught the flu/a cold and required medicine for healing. It used to happen so often that I kept several bags of medicine in my closet. But it's been just forever since it's happened. Was that something that changed with the Amiibo update, or is it something that has changed in terms of my relationship with the animals? I have been playing pretty much daily since the update.

I've looked on other threads, and they're saying that it is removed, though I'm not sure.

I think the frequency of it happening must have drastically gone down with the update, as a lot of people seem to think it’s vanished completely, whilst others say it still does happen, just much less frequently : 0

Yes, that's indeed strange. I don?t remember it happening in my town in the last couple of months. I don?t know if its completely gone or just became very rare. Maybe I wouldn?t want that feature to go but I?m happy for my villagers if they are truly more protected....*they still get attacked by those mean fleas just as often as before*

omgs. i had four fleas in one playthrough once, i wasn't even playing for very long! it was crazy.

When I first started playing, my villagers were sick all the time, but after a few patches, only a few asked, after the welcome amiibo update, I haven't had any villagers sick at all. That's one year of playing almost non-stop. So, basically I think they just removed it. Maybe it wasn't as child friendly as the animal crossing games usually are. Also, I've seen a lot more people getting fleas and stuff, so there might be something with that.

As they usually are? The old animal crossing games? They would scream at you for 20 min if your ds ran out of battery, I don?t call that child friendly XD
But you might be onto something, I?m not sure if I had THAT many fleas in town before. I remember them being more rare, now I see them all the time...

That's a shame. I used to love bringing them medicine and helping them feel better. I thought it was a really cute aspect of the game and it broke up the monotony a bit.

I have a bunch of towns and a bunch of villagers and not one has gone ill since the Amiibo update.I wonder if Nintendo took it out/lessened its occurrence because they figured that players would be moving villagers in and out more frequently with Amiibo cards and didn't want a villager's illness to interfere with that process.

I've had the beautiful town ordinance in all my towns since the game was released and I still got sick villagers.Things changed with sick villagers after the Amiibo update.

I’ve played for awhile now and never once got a sick villager? Maybe I just have extraordinary luck? Or maybe I just never paid close enough attention? Hmm....

I first read about this while I was on a long hiatus from New Leaf. When I got a new town later, I did notice that none of the villagers ever got sick.
When I finally went back to my old town (Hadn't been there for at least 4 years) and cleaned out my inbox (I had a backlog of mail waiting), I got a bit sad for how many letters I found that were villagers thanking me for giving medicine since I know I'm a lot less likely to see them get sick now.

If I ever see a sick villager again, I'm going to take a screenshot while wearing Welcome Amiibo clothing (unless it's a Welcome Amiibo villager) just to prove it happened since I have not seen any screenshots like this before.

villagers who are sick will hide out in their house for a few days, so its pretty easy not to notice!! i remember when i first got the game i wouldnt really ever visit any villagers, so i never particularly took notice that one was missing for a few days until they came back xD
