I really like Erik but he's my 3rd lazy and a starter so I'm trying to get him to move out.
He got sick yesterday and I decided to not give him meds as I read that helping them heal will most likely make them not want to move out.
Today, I passed by his place and he was still sick.
I do feel quite bad though. I thought he'd be fine already. How long do villagers get sick for if they're not given meds and does giving them meds really prolong their move-out process?

meds or no meds has no affect on whether they stay or go, far as i know. move outs are entirely rng, but villagers with higher friendship levels do ask to move out more than lower friendship levels.

for how long they will stay sick - i've seen like 4 days when i kept forgetting to give meds? its a while.

That's what I thought but didn't the most recent datamine actually reveal that villagers with lower friendship are more likely to ask to leave?

hmm. iunno ! i havent checked the most recent ones, just remember the big reveal convo we had as a forum a while ago and from what i've heard continuously said by cyclers/my own experiences ! could be true

From a friendship points perspective, giving them meds won't really prolong the process, as it's not worth a lot of points (friendship guide link).

I think I remember hearing a rumor early on that a villager won't move out shortly after getting medicine, but I think that was pre-datamine and not sure there is any evidence to support that. I saw a reddit post where someone said a villager moved out two days after they gave them medicine (source).

I would give him the medicine and then just continue to build up the friendships of the villagers you want to keep.

I had this happen with Sprinkle. She was still sick the day after but i cant recall if she got healthy on the next day because i gave her something or just like that. Maybe wait one more day if you can handle it and see if he gets better?

I think it’s only two days, I had Gayle and she was sick I forgot to get her medicine and the next day she was still sick, I decided not to give her any to see how long it last and on day three she was back outside living her best life.

I feel so guilty not bringing them medicine lol. I only did it once, with one of my starter villagers who I hated bc I still thought then that talking to them at all reduced chances of them moving out. But she just looked so pathetic and all the other villagers kept bringing it up in conversation.

Once I forgot to get Pietro medicine, but he was normal the next day.. I always thought it only lasted for the 1 day

I forgot to give someone medicine once and the next day they were fine. I never thought it could be longer than that...

From what I have experienced, it’s random who asks to move out. What I do to get the one I want to leave is wait for a thought bubble on a villager, I talk to them and if they are about to ask to leave and it’s not the one I want, I close out of the game before I finish the conversation. Then the next day a different villager will have the thought bubble. I repeat this until it goes to the one I want.

Ignoring doesn’t do anything except make you miss out on things that villager can give you (I tried ignoring one for 2 weeks). So I say give him medicine and get a reward! I try to get pictures of my villagers before they leave.

Hope this helps!

I would think, regardless of whether it decreases the chances or not, if you want a villager to move out, you should give them the medicine right away, because they can't move out if they're stuck in their house being sick, and they might get skipped if one of the days when they're sick is a day the game decides to choose a mover.

I always give my villagers medicine whether I like them or not. Besides, as kiwikenobi pointed out they stay in their house when they’re sick and they can’t get a bubble unless they’re outside.

Oh, did he pass away?

... but in all seriousness, I’m too much of a softy to not give medicine even to the two villagers I’m hoping will move out soon —here’s looking at you, Plucky and Lionel.

I'm not giving it to mine anymore.

They don't bother giving it to me when I need it, apart from Fang and Wolfgang.

Id be happy to take plucky of your hands if she moves out :)

It sucks to see him sick like that but at the end of the day they aren't real so you just gotta move on :c Its tough but I mean I don't think it will effect him too much if you give him medicine if he isn't super high in friendship. as long as he is low it should be fine because lower friendship villagers tend to ask to move out more than friendlier villagers.
