My Shrubbery Dilemma

Everyone knows we just got gorgeous bushes today, but I have no idea where can they be placed and not wither and DIE. Will our new bushy friends be able to grow right next to houses, shops and cliffs? or do they work like trees, and need to be one tile away? I'm aware they can be planted next to their friends and trees with no problems (they're the best!), so was hoping if a kind TT had more info on this mechanic!!

Like most plants in NH. They do not wilt; they just don't grow until you move them. That is, if you planted them where they can't grow. Though I've planted shrubbies, they've been going just fine near cliffsides and houses (and bridges) to me!

On green grass, and not on sand? I seem to remember this from NL, but it has been a while.

They can be grown against objects like trees, buildings, cliffs and rivers, as well as near the edge of the beach and the edge of cliffs. Saw the below post on tumblr with pics to help:

Yes. I'm literally next to my bushes (edge of a cliff) and they're growing just fine. To clarify, and to even quote Leif: "They're flowers but also like a tree." They look like a tree (you can't go through it) but grow like flowers (1x1).

Yup! There was even a screenshot of it growing next to a house (or a shop??) then the bridge near it. So I'm pretty sure it's 1x1.

Does anyone have any info on how many you can grow in a line? I know in NL you could only place about 12 in a continuous link until the next one withered

Anyone know if, like the trees, they can be Power Lifted out whole and moved? Or do they get destroyed :s

If I understood correctly, they should work like flowers, and can be Power Lifted with no issues; I'm not sure if you need to eat fruit first though. If anyone can add to this, we would appreciate it!

You do not need fruits to dig up grown shrubbies.

Absolutely adore that they removed most of the restrictions of their growth. One of the most frustrating parts of New Leaf was trying to work around SO many of the bush restrictions (between cluster limits, not growing around god knows how many things) and since PWPs aren't a thing anymore it gives even more freedom

So glad we have more freedom with them this time! I'm curious too about how it'll work with lining them up and if the chain will count trees like last time...
