So if you dont know, a cello is like a violin but much bigger. I was late to my first period class, so I couldn't drop off my cello in front of the orchestra room. Instead I drop it off right after 1st period before 2nd period starts, Usually the orcherstra teacher will take it and put it inside... so after 2nd period and lunch, we have a class where we just read or do homework so for now we can call it homeroom. But your homeroom class doesnt even have to be one of your periods. My homeroom teacher fortunately was my orcherstra teacher. It turns out the orcherstra teacher went on a field trip with 2nd period and the other students in my homeroom were PLAYING AROUND WITH MY CELLO. right when i got there i saw them playing catch. And I asked them to put it down (gah im not really popular). We ended up having a double lunch (7th graders have lunch first while 8th graders have homeroom then vice versa.) right after homeroom a sub comes to teach 3rd period, last period of the day, and when i get out my cello and the finger board now tilts and can be tiled (it is cracked at the top) i realize it must have been those stupid students... I wanted to tell the office but I didnt even know their names (again i dont really care about those guys) so I decided tomorrow having period 4 5 and 6 but still having homeroom i am going to tell my homeroom/orcherstra teacher what happened. I REALLY CANT PAY 400$ FOR BREAKING A CELLO BECAUSE I AM AT A FINANCIALLY LOW STATUS RIGHT NOW ITS SO UPSETTING. Im like the teacher pet but he gets really scary and "reponsibility" is probably going to be the force that makes this 100% my fault.

Sorry guys i just needed to vent out this is just REALLY upsetting.

Any advice on what i should do tomorrow?

I would find out who the students were and explain what happened. They should be the ones that have to pay for it, not you. Also, wasn't there someone monitoring your homeroom? If so, why were they letting these kids toss around someone else's instrument? That's messed up.

I think you should just be honest with your teacher. What a bunch of idiots though playing around with someone elses instrument like a toy. Something similar happened to me in middle school for this fair where these students were playing around with the spring on my homemade wooden pinball machine and broke it. I was out of the classroom so I never saw who did it. Those kids should be the ones held responsible.

Sorry to hear about your cello, that sounds awful...
Definitely try to find out who the other students were because they should take responsibility for their actions.

Just tell your orchestra teacher/office what happened and it should be fine. I've experienced stuff like this many times, and since I'm assuming your young, stuff like this will always seem like a life ending disaster, but in the end it always works out fine. If your teacher gets angry, it doesn't really matter, he's not going to hate you forever. Teacher's deal with stuff like this all the time (especially music/orchestral teachers, especially for the string section, stuff gets broken all the time) so if they get a bit mad they probably just want to teach you responsibility like you've said. And judging from how traumatised you seem I'm sure you'll be more careful in the future.
