Villager hunting. It's pretty much impossible to see any type of results unless you either:

1. Time Travel (campsite method)
2. Have an absurd amount of NMT

And both of these... I cannot do, lol.

Wanna keep time travel as an only when absolutely necessary thing and for the amount of time I can play, I can't really get enough Nook Miles to purchase a ton of NMT. I have enough Nook Miles to get 15 tickets and Hamphrey goes to the void in... just over 2 and a half hours.

I know some people are quite generous with letting people pick up a villager from them with their amiibo for a reasonable price but to be honest, I really don't like paying for things in NMTs. I'd rather use them to gather resources when I'm running low...

Bleh, well that's my semi rant I guess lol, hope I find someone with the 15 NMT. Wolfgang pls, Nintendo

Also haven't had a campsite visitor in almost a week, so maybe I'll get lucky and get a camper tomorrow

I like island hopping but on my terms. It's a fun surprise when I have an open plot. Not when I desperately wanted a particular villager.

I have basically all the amiibos and when I'm done with my catalog island will probably run my own cycling of villagers either free giveaway style or very, very affordable with items or IGB. :)

Yeah I feel you. I legit wasted 55 NMTs to try and get Dom and I FINALLY got him after a lot of disappointing island hopping. If NMTs weren't so expensive, island hopping wouldn't be as bad. As for the TT Campsite Method, it blows chunks and I'd rather not ever do it again. Not worth the weeds and over abundance of flowers all over my town

Yeah. I just wish we had more time to do so, my luck is notoriously god-tier awful when it comes to random move-ins. Except Freya, I was literally blessed just once there, lol.

they're just pretty time-consuming, all things considered.

one thing i'd love to be implemented is villagers on islands even if you have full plots. the odds of running someone you actually like are slim anyway, so making this a viable adoption tactic doesn't seem outlandish to me, tbh.

I'm going to sleep soon and giving time to look for if anyone would like Reneigh for free tomorrow (PST time) but if you would be ok to wait 2 days I don't mind getting you Wolfgang for free.

Naw, all good. I enjoy keeping it up to fate. XD

i personally kind of like villager hunting - sure it can be discouraging if you’re having a hard time finding villagers you like/want but i still think it’s kind of fun aha

When my husband decided he wanted his town to be all cats, I knew what he (and inevitably I) would be getting into. Its been 200ish tickets so far with no sign of raymond. I've been the one grinding out earning most of tickets while he "gets" to spend them... but honestly its no fun when you're burning 30+ tickets in one sitting, either.

i haven't properly "hunted" for any villagers yet - the ones i've obtained that i was actively looking for, i bought from users on this forum or were gifted to me for free very generously. for the remaining ones i want, i'm thinking of actually taking it slow and trying some real hunting. for lobo i might try the campsite method since i don't have any crankies right now, but i've TTed a bit for the sole purpose of cycling out some villagers and the flowers and mailbox really get out of hand.

i just dread the inevitable reality of wasting all my NMT on island hopping and not finding anyone i was looking for haha

The thing is... I don't think it was supposed to be easy to get who you wanted. The franchise at its roots was about living life and rolling with what came along, but they gave us some amount of control over stuff like this because people enjoyed it.

When a random villager is moving in the tenth plot, I hadn’t set my tenth plot because of this. I wish it was like NL when the 10th villager not a random move in, but a villager you moved in by adoption, amiibo or campsite.

I can’t agree enough!

Clearly the programming for that is already partially there, considering it was possible with the first three invitees (normal, lazy, peppy).

It’d give me more reason to keep going on tours, and make the Islands feel less empty.
