So I’ve pretty much hijacked my kids switch the last three weeks to play Animal Crossing. They want to use it but now I’m addicted. I was going to buy myself a switch lite but then I read you can’t transfer your saved data.
Do you think there will be an option to do so in the future?

I realllly hope there will be a way to transfer data in the future... my switch is kinda old and my game keeps lagging in random areas of my island, I'm really afraid it might crash in the future and I'll lose everything :(

Isn't that normal? Like does the frame drop or what type of lag? My switch is at 3 years and it happens to me in certain areas too.

My switch is 4 years old so that scares me. I don’t use it often though and don’t have a ton of games downloaded. Hope it will hang in there.

We got ours when it was first released too. I had to delete so much crap just to be able to download the game.

Um...the Switch is only 3 years old...it came out in 2017.

Nintendo has said they are working on something, but no info on what it will look like or when it is coming.

I had old demos and indies I didn’t want anymore so did the same but haven’t had lag yet in any spots in new horizons 🤞

Um...ok pardon my math then. Was thinking it was 2016 for some reason. I’ll correct myself and say I’ve had it since release. 😃

I play on my 19 year old son's switch. He set up a house on the island, but almost never plays. He's not using his switch much these days, so I don't often have to compete with him for playing time. The worst thing though, is when he's mad at me for some reason, he sometimes hides the switch! During those moments I really wish I had my own Switch, lol. Hopefully you'll be able to move save data over to a different console at some point. Wasn't that possible with the Wii/ City Folk?

Yes, and hacking was a major problem on the Wii and 3DS, which is why they are being so strict now.

Hacking isn't always game save alterations either - hacking a system can lead to pirated games or cheating in online.

Surprised nobody brought this up but

Yes there will be a way to transfer save data in a future update.

That's about all we know though, aside from it coming sometime this year
Honestly more than any update this is what I’m so excited for! I fear losing everything!

Glad to hear this will be addressed in an update. It's one thing to protect the intellectual property from hacking and theft. But it shouldn't come at the expense of the consumer being able to back up or transfer their save data to another console.

The frame rate drops considerably in one area of my island, and I've noticed its begun to spread to areas around it/new areas that never had this problem before. I've seen vids online where the frame rate drops because there's a lot of stuff in the area, but the areas it's lagging for me are not super developed (near flowers or a bridge). I've also tried removing everything in the area where the lag occurs and it still happens.

My switch is also 3 years old for reference, and I'm not sure if this is normal since none of my friends (who are on newer switches) have experienced this, despite having islands with much more stuff lying around :(
