Ever since I got my 2nd copy (digital) of new leaf I've noticed something odd happening every now and then and I didn't know what it was. I just ignored it because it didn't seem to affect anything and it was so infrequent it didn't matter to me. But now a couple days in and today the stuttering has been pretty darn bad. Like just random spots where the game just stutters, like when you're pc isn't good enough to run a game you're playing and it drops fps, that kinda thing.

Does anyone know what this issue is? Have any of you experienced it before? It's kinda freaking me out I don't want to lose my town =/

Uh

I don't think I've ever really had this issue (running digital as well btw)

Any specific instances? As well as the things done prior to it happening that may or may not be the cause?

Alternatively, how packed is your SD card? Not sure if it'd actually be the problem, but a part of me could see the system taking a while to read data from it if its already (nearly) maxed out and thus suffering from slowdown because of it.

Is your 3D on? I find that if 3D is on, my games "lag" a bit, especially with Pokemon X.

My game has been stuttering randomly all day. It doesn't make any sense why it is either, sometimes it's when seeing a villager sometimes it's just walking through the grass or the beach, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason.

I don't see how my sd card could be packed the only thing I really have on there is new leaf like I said. I still have like 20k+ blocks left so I can't imagine my sd card being an issue unless it's faulty or something?

No I don't use 3d for new leaf. It's always off for me.

Ok, yeah SD card should be fine unless as you mentioned its faulty. Though I'm not sure how you'd go about checking that.

Unless its just a problem with the system itself, though I'd really hope not.

Honestly, I'm at a loss as to whats causing it. Most slowdown I ever have is just on turning the system on, which it takes a few seconds to read and load the icons for all downloaded content I have. I've never experienced any actual lag in-game sans a few times using wi-fi. Though that's more attributed to simply connection speeds and such.

3D maybe like Krissi mentioned? I never use 3D so I can't comment on it, but hey.

My game has only stuttered once, and that was when Tom Nook phased through the doors & mailbox once and my game got really slow. This happened a while back, never had another issue though.

Sorry, I really hope nothing's wrong with your system. D:

Can a 3ds get a virus or any kind of malware/spyware/ or whatever else there is out there?

Hmmm ok so I saved and quit my game then turned my wifi switch off, entered back in and now the lag is gone. I guess it was wifi lag even tho I wasn't visiting anyone and vice versa? This is weird

Sometimes, software just needs to be rebooted every once in a while. If I'm diving for a long time, I get some slowdown and can feel the back of the 3DS getting a little warm.

Right I get that, it sounds reasonable but I had barely been playing for an hour.

Ugh it's doing it again.....I guess it didn't fix anything :(

Hm... If it's not 3D, I'm not sure what to tell you. I've never had this problem before.

Is every game stuttering like this, or is it just AC? It may be the SD card. Try to re-download the game, maybe? I doubt it's a system problem if AC is the only game doing this.

Hmm...ok I'll try a different game and get back to you.

Also the stuttering is much more noticeable when I run next to my villagers (I currently have them all trapped near my house). Maybe the game can't handle all my villagers being in one place at once? If that's the case then that's pretty sad tbh

this happened to me with pokemon y, which was physical. i don't know why, but it stopped. i believe that the sd card is too full, or has another issue that is not known, such as corruption
