My Dream Address Was Changed?

A few days ago, the Dream Suite wasn't working for me. It wouldn't connect me to any dreams, but my internet on both the 3DS and on my laptop was still working fine. Today, I went to update my town and after a long time waiting for the "Connecting to Internet" sign to go away, it did, and then I'm told that my Dream Address has been changed.

I can't figure out WHY though. I haven't reset my town or anything like that, the most that I've done is place down lots of patterns and some time traveling to unlock the QR code for a character. (I only time traveled to this Wednesday though) Has this happened to anyone before? Why would this happen in the first place?

I think if you go a certain amount of time without any dream visitors/without updating it will delete your dream town from the datebase, which might be what gave you a new DA when you finally updated.
