I was wondering if there are any other fellow musicians on this forum? What instrument do you play, and do you enjoy it?

I'm not just interested in your music ability, experience, or all of that, but I am also curious about your musical instruments! Where did you get them? Were they rented? Purchased brand new? Inherited? Second hand store? Anything! I would love to know! 😊

For me my favorite instrument is an inexpensive classical guitar found in a small second hand place at least 20 years ago. I cant find any information on the guitar, but I never have to tune it... literally... its like magic for years and stays in tune.

I'm sure if I handed it over to a professional they might laugh at it, but I sure love this guitar!

Do you have any stories about your instruments and why you love them? Please share!

im not quite sure if this counts as its own instrument, but i am a turntablist. like a dj.
I think that counts for sure. Music is music, and where it comes from has changed over the years. Electricity has changed things big time in music going back to the synthesizer, made popular in the 1960's and '70's

Is there a type of turn table that is "the best" or more importantly your favorite? Maybe with sentimental value?

When I was growing up I used to play Piano and Acoustic Guitar, but i no longer play
Why do you no longer play? I have always wanted to learn how to play the piano. I think the piano is one of the most beautiful instruments

i have a piano! it’s a yamaha ydp - 121 and i bought it second hand last may. before that i had a casio keyboard and played it for four years before getting an actual piano. i bought my piano for $120 which is an absolute steal because i’ve seen them go for $500 used on online listings. it’s fully functional and i’ve only had minimal problems with it, i had to replace a sticky key but it’s basically good as brand new.

aside from that, i have a cheap kala ukulele. i told myself i was going to learn but it’s difficult compared to the piano IMO maybe i’m not meant to play string instruments.

the next instrument i’d love to get is an accordion or concertina. both are similar instruments but the latter of the two is less expensive.

What type of music do you play on your piano??

I played trumpet in middle and high school. I played for a few months after I graduated in a community band but quit when I got a job at night. Couldn't go to rehearsals anymore but was probably going to quit anyway. I can't read music so the stuff we were playing was way above my head.

I had bought a professional level trumpet years later hoping to get back into playing. Ended up needing money and pawned it. The pawn shop caught fire and they had to write me a check to replace it. It went to bills and I haven't had a trumpet since.

anything really but i’m on a 40’s kick because i’m obsessed with the fallout games atm 🤣 i learned “i don’t want to set the world on fire” by the ink spots and i was learning pachelbel’s canon but i jump from learning different songs when i get bored.

i might try to learn the super mario world athletic theme because i bought the midi file for that. i learn with an program called synthesia, all i do is upload the midi file and it teaches me how to play it. i’m inspired to learn that song in specific because i saw this video:

Learn everything!

That video makes me want to break out my old rag time tablature book for guitar! I started learning some old rag time songs a couple of decades ago, and suddenly I am inspired to go back to it! Thank you for that share!

Rag time is difficult on the guitar, but at least its an instrument I know
