Well, not just that, but the bass also doesn't function right... The bass is meant to be, well, the bass, but the instruments will always harmonize with whatever chord or implied chord is currently happening in the song. That means that, if you're playing the bass along with a song that already has a low bass part, your notes might not match the actual bass note in the song, and chords at that low frequency can sound muddy and harder to distinguish.
The bass might work better in songs that don't really have a prominent bass part, like K.K. Lullaby or something.

Oh, and another thing! If you're playing together with someone else, the notes you play are not always the same notes your friend will hear on their end. The rhythms will be the same (albeit a bit delayed), but it's like their version of the game randomizes the notes individually.

Well, feel free to share the drums as well if you ever need further proof. ^^
I did notice that the delay between pressing the button and hearing the instrument can get really bad on other player islands, unfortunately... That would make it even harder to play along. I definitely recommend putting a radio near Resident Services though, that seems to be the best way to get yourself a singer!

Even a couple of my villagers tried playing instruments along with the music. I've only had it happen with Gruff and Rocco playing the recycled-can thumb piano and their synchronization of strumming the notes with the music is perfect.

I believe it may be easier to some people, yes. have you tried picking up a slow song, and just try a note every 2 ou 4 seconds? It helps to memorize the song. You can always revert to the video I shared in the beginning of this thread, I hope it helps.
