Music is quieter on the third level

Did everybody but me already know that the music is noticeably quieter on the third level cliffs on your island?? I just found this out today! Is this old news to you?
I learned this the first day I got the ladder, only because I have my volume cranked up pretty high. It's a nice touch.

Yes, I remember I noticed it a while back when I had to vault over to the other side of my island which had the upper hills. I think it was more obvious when we had the starting game music since you listen to it for constant hours, so any slight change is pretty easy to detect.

It's the little details like these that I love about the game.

Like what rubombee said this is "TIL", in fact i tested it out, but couldn't notice a difference at first due to the waterfalls nearby.

I think it's explained by the fact that lorewise the in-game island background music is implied to come from the Resident Service building itself (you upgrade the building and you unlock the hourly music). The building is always on the bottom level, so as you move up elevations, you're getting higher and further from the sound. That's why the volume is lower.

I didn't think of this but it makes so much sense!

I also noticed this recently the closer you are to your Resident service building louder it is and then moving away from it the music gets quieter.
