Music in New Horizons or New Leaf?

If some of you are calling NL's music some of the best game music ever, then you would adore Octopath Traveler's music. That soundtrack is amazing! (ahem, back on topic)

I like them both equally. Some tracks I prefer over other tracks of course. I'm just really, really glad I don't have to hear NL 2 pm again. For some reason, that track became really grating to me to the point where I would actively avoid playing at 2 pm. Right now, I am really loving the NH soundtrack because it is a bit funky and I like it.

I don't want to offend anyone if it's their favourite tune, but...
the 1PM, 2PM, 11PM and 3AM songs drive me INSANE. The bass is plucked so aggressively, and the synth is so loud that it makes me cringe so I just don't play at these times.

I like playing between 3PM and 8PM though.

Yeah, my favorites in NH, outside of 4pm and 5pm, are 7am-12pm. The sad thing is I work 6am-4pm 5 days a week, so I only ever hear it on the weekends.

Ah that's unfortunate. I love 5AM, 7AM and 9AM as well but I never get to hear those ones since I'm usually asleep.

On CF I literally love the entire hourly soundtrack, with the exception of 9PM and 4AM, so I used to play for hours on end without stopping because the music was relaxing and I didn't feel the need to mute/turn the game off. I suppose NH gives me incentive not to play during late hours lol

I loved most of the NL nighttime music! It was so melancholic and thoughtful--especially the tracks for 7PM, 11PM, and 4AM. I still throw those on some of my writing playlists! NH has some fun tracks (I especially like 12PM) but I wish it had more mellow songs.

Ideally tho a radio system could be patched in, where we could choose to play hourly music from all the previous games.

"Traditional" Animal Crossing music is upbeat. NH goes back towards the GameCube style music. New leaf was the one moving AWAY from tradition, with it all being subdued/calming.

Now of course, which you prefer is entirely subjective, and I get preferring New Leaf... But traditional Animal Crossing IS funky/upbeat... Not a lullaby like NL.

Edit: Not trying to single you out for this opinion at all! It's totally cool to prefer NL. Something in me just majorly resists when I read "Animal Crossing music is "supposed to be" gentle/calming/soothing"... Lol... No! Going back to the original, Animal Crossing music is "supposed to be" groovy

i do think the music in NL is more distinctive... but at the same time, some of the hourly music would actually affect me so much i couldn't play with the volume on! 7PM is lovely but actively makes me sad, so i can't listen to it. (i have this with a lot of slower/sadder music, and thankfully haven't had this issue at all with NH!) meanwhile... NH's 5AM music makes me want to happy-cry and makes me feel so at peace.

NH is so much better. I love 1am, 2am, and 5am a lot. 6pm sounds like an ode to Wild World which I love too. I never enjoyed the music in NL and when I played, I had to play it muted. NH's soundtrack is more fitting for the AC series overall as it reminds me of GameCube a bit.

Honestly WW/CF is still very solidly top tier for me, but in general NL's is better. I just really can't stand the night themes here (which is when I usually have a chance to play). 9pm-11pm are really lackluster. I'm also not a fan of 1pm-2pm or 3am.

Although I like NH’s soundtrack, I prefer NL’s more. I feel like NL’s soundtrack is much more diverse and memorable.

i like them both but yeah NL wins and i noticed that a few of the melodies in NH are from yokai watch and mario. (both owed by nintendo so no big deal but the yokai watch music made me sqeee like bobby hill with joy)

I really miss New Leaf music, but I think Wild World was on another level with their soundtrack. Maybe it was the nostalgia but NH doesn’t even come close!
