I'm currently figuring out the villagers I want for my town, and so far I have-

Eunice
Marshal
Maple
Pashmina
Sprinkle
Bluebear
Erik
Mint
Flurry
Static

So this leaves me with 2 cubs and 3 squirrels. I'm not bothered about the cubs because I really love both Maple and Bluebear, but I'm unsure about the squirrels. Do any of your towns have duplicate villager species? I would be interested to know whether people like or dislike it (I'll try and put a poll in).

I think out of the 3 squirrels I have picked I like Mint the most, and she's the one I'll most likely keep. On the other hand, I'm not particularly attached to Marshal or Static, I just don't know what other smug villager and cranky villager I could have instead that would still look good with the others I've chosen. I have no particular theme with my town but it's quite pastel coloured. It would be helpful if you could suggest which ones could work well :D

It's your town. Don't be worried about having multiple of the same species; choose villagers that you want, villagers that make you happy, it doesn't matter what other people like or dislike. Once I have all 10 of my dream villagers, I'll wind up with 5 deers (might replace Lopez, however), and 3 cats. I was a bit hesitant at first, too, but in the end it's all about the villagers that I like.

If you want to replace Marshal and Static, it'd be best to look at the villagers that are smug and cranky, and see which ones you like. If you're going for a pastel town, I think Marshal would fit well with that...or maybe even Julian? I do think Static would look nice too; he's not very pastel, but he'd add a pop of vibrant colours into the pastel mix...or at least that's what I think.

Thank you for replying! I was thinking of maybe Fang instead of Static but the only thing is the wolfs are quite big and most of the villagers I have picked are kind of short if that makes sense.. I think I will stick with Marshal but I'm still deciding :)

I have 4 deers, two of them being lazy. I also plan on having 2 wolves. I was worried at first, but now that I've gotten them I'm super happy. I love them all!

Go with what you like. Personalities make all the difference, not species or looks :)

I honestly don't try to care about how many of a species or personality of villagers I have as long as they're dreamies, though I try not to have any more than 3.

thank you everyone so much for your responses! :) I think I will stick with having the 3 squirrels because I like them the most.
everyone that has commented has been so lovely :D

I for one don't like having too many villagers of the same species. I have to penguins (Cube and Flo) and two wolves (Freya and Fang), but I wouldn't want more than 2.

More than half of my of my main town is made up of bird villagers. I don't really care about having multiple villagers of the same species, I just get the villagers I like and most of them just happened to be birds.

dont worry! its not like anyone is going to judge you for have 3 squirrels in your town

I'm going to try to collect all 8 hamsters! 3/8 so far. I actually think it's quite common to have more than one of the same species.

Just go for what you like ;) I'm aiming for three cats because I love their designs and charm. That's all the reason I need.

I have multiple deer and sheep and cats... probably also others, but I did not pick them due to species, just style and personality.

My guest town has 3 bear cubs and I love them.
My town that just grows weeds will be a real town one day. I'm thinking of adding only short villagers.
They have to wear the flower as clothing when they are standing in flowers before they can live in my town. Mice and hamster town maybe.

I'm big on diversity so I'm not huge on having multiples unless it's a town theme, but I have two rabbit villagers in Lunavila, and I'm contemplating two cats in Drowsy, so who knows.

Well what can I say? 5 wolves and 2 tigers, basically I didnt give a damn of what people think and just selected the characters I like. It is your town man, if you like a certain specie, go for it!

In. My lovely town there 2 species of each but it's because of the couple idea
And also there my mouse town (which both are in a haitus and in work)
But I'm fine with it

I don't think it matters - honestly! I go more on personality types and how much I like the villager! I currently have a few of the same species villagers, but they're not my dreamies (Chief & Fang), (Ozzie & (forgot his name lmao)). Anyway, I have two squirrels, peanut and Marshal, they're both great and having two squirrels never made a difference to me!

I care about duplicate personalities a lot more than duplicate species. I wouldn't want to get bored with the dialogue. Still, I don't think I've ever wanted more than two of a species in one town together (Vesta and Willow, in the case of Feldspar). I really like having villager variety. There are certain species that appeal to me a lot ? anteaters, dogs, sheep, cats ? so I try to spread them out between my two towns.

Go with whatever villagers you like -- I'm aiming to have an all deer town, since they're my favourite.

my town has 4 wolves (skye, kyle, chief, whitney), and i really love it. it's like they're a little pack, they talk about each other fairly often :)
