so I'm a straight guy and always had main guy characters for my mayors no question... but i'm on the verge of making a new character in my second town to get more patterns and thinking of making one like iggy azalea (no judgement) is that too weird? I'm perfectly cool with naming a guy Iggy too so its not that big of a deal, but just wondering peoples ideas of guys having girl characters in their towns

I think it's perfectly fine to have a female character.
Since I love the walking dead, I'm making a house dedicated to it and the character is "Brian" which is the governors fake name he made up. I'm a girl making a character based off a show, so why not for Iggy. Shouldn't be any different for a guy to have an opposite gender in their town :p

I have one other character in my town and they were originally a joke character I used when plot resetting (kinda embarrassing actually) , and I was too lazy to delete them and later started using them for storage and yeah she ended up being a permanent resident. I think it's great to have a variety of characters in your town of both genders, I don't think it's weird at all. Iggy would be cool, I kinda wanted to make a new character named Samus that wears the varia suit.

I think that's perfectly fine. Games are meant to be played for you, so no reason not to. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, plus girls technically have more design freedom in the game. I created a male character for my town recently so it shouldn't be any different for a guy to have a girl character in their town.

I have a straight male friend who plays and he chooses the girl to play occasionally. When Pokemon X and Y came out, he chose the girl and that's perfectly fine too. He just brought Story of Seasons with me and plays one with a boy character and one with the girl so yeah, no issue there.

I'm a guy, but both my second and third characters are girls. Girls have way better options of clothing IMO.

I try to keep the 4 players at two and two in my files, but I just moved one over to a new town to be its mayor, and he's a guy, so it really doesn't matter which gender you choose to play as! The only things that are different are the appearances for the most part, and some bits of dialogue. Do whatever you please!

Both of my Mayors are Female, but my ALTs are predominately male. But that's just to do with the themes, I wanted a pink girly town so I have a girl mayor in that, and then I wanted a witch as the mayor in the Halloweeny town, I like the boy characters a lot too, and I think ACNL is lovely for its gender fluid-ness. I love that you can wear whatever clothes and everything, my boyfriend has a male character whom he has cross dressing in a cute little dress, with a matching bow. So I mean, don't feel limited!

im sorry im still trying to make sense of this?

what does being straight and a guy have to do with the gender of your characters....... i swear straight people are so weird

but yea do whatever u want with your town...... although i do judge your taste in music a bit im sorry

I don't see why not. If I added an extra character, it'd be a male since my Mayor's female. Nothing wrong with mixing things up.

I don't know why people think this is a big deal... I have 2 girl characters and 2 boy ones and I'm a straight girl... see? it isn't that much of a deal... not being rude I'm just saying... :3

That's perfectly fine!

Sometimes in my video games I play as a guy because I feel like it xD

You can be any gender you want!

I've always chosen male characters, as I personally think it's odd to have a female character when you're a male. Unless of course you have a relative or somebody you like as a female character, then it's perfectly fine. I just don't like it when somebody chooses a female character as they're main character when they're a male.

I made my extra character male as my mayor is female. It's more fun to have some variation in dressing them up, and I don't really play them as they're just a path mule so I'm not bothered about the gender.

My husband mostly uses female characters in his games, and I go between male and female in my games. No biggie.

Yeah, that's fine. Back in the days of ACWW I'd play the boy character because it looks more like me (short hair, trousers). It's no biggie, it's only a character on a little animal game.
