Moving villager houses

Okay so I wanna move my villager Zells house, and I just did. It finishes tomorrow, but what I need to know is

Will zells previous house plot disappear or will it become a empty spot (able to be occupied later for another villager)?

I have9 villagers atm instead of ten so idk if this’ll make an empty plot and I’ll get a villager I don’t want or if it’ll disappear.. thanks in advance

Zell's house will just move to the new location leaving nothing behind. The space where his house used to be will be empty, no plot, no house.

As @Altarium said, also happens with stores, the campsite and museum.
