Hi there!

I’m currently a resident on my sister’s island (since it’s her switch and I made my own profile) and my Nintendo account is linked up to it. But I’m planning on getting my own switch soon, and I’m not sure what’s going to happen once I move into my island and link up my account. Am I still going to have access to her island? Will I move out and bring all of my belongings with me?

I've tried searching everywhere to see if anyone has talked about this, but I can't seem to find anything or anyone who has had a similar experience. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Your switch will be completely separate. The character you create on your own switch be separate from the one on your sister's island. You won't get the items and bells from the resident you play on her island (unless you give it to your new character) but you will just stay on her island unless she chooses to delete you from her island.

My Nintendo account is linked to my character on the switch though. Theoretically that would mean I could visit myself on her island, but not anymore since my account is linked??

You can have 2 island on 2 switches with the same nintendo account. I am currently doing this. My setup is below:

I have my OG switch as the primary switch, linked to my Nintendo Account. I have Island A on said switch with a unique Villager name, let's call it Villager A

I have recently purchased a Switch Lite and is now my secondary switch (Yes, I know people tend to swap primary since the Lite is likely going to travel and digital, etc...) also linked to my Nintendo Account, hence the secondary switch. I now have a 2nd island, Island B on the Switch Lite with a different/unique villager name, Villager B.

Even though both of these switches have my account linked, I can still visit either island using the different villagers. My wife also have her own switch, with her own island and she can visit both of my island (Island A and Island B). She even sees both villager name, Villager A and Villager B on her friends list.

To take it to another level, I purchased the digital version of the game so I didn't have to buy the game a 2nd time around as long as I don't have both games on at the same time. The switch lite, given that it's secondary in my account, will check if it can play Animal Crossing before it loads the game, checking to ensure I don't have 2 copies active at one time BUTTTTTT if I borrow my wife's game card, I can have both games playing at the same time. One is using the digital license of the game, the other is using my wife's game card.

Hope that didn't confuse you but to simply answer your question, yes, your villager on your new/incoming switch will be able to visit your sister's island. You don't have to delete that profile off your sister's switch.
