Anyone notice how large they are? I've heard people say things like the large in France is the small in America. But I don't go to the movies very often, and when I do, I never buy snacks due to their prices, so I never really noticed. But I went to see Super 8 a few weeks ago, and it was really hot. I forgot to bring a water bottle with me, so I got in the snack line to buy one. 2 people in front of me got these big ass bags of popcorn, and I think they ordered a medium. And I asked for a small water bottle, since again, they charged a lot. I was expecting those mini water bottles that are about 6 inches tall. But instead I got this giant one, larger than the average water bottle. It made me wonder what the normal sized bottle was like.

So, how are the serving sizes where you live? And do you think they do too much or too little?

Serving sizes are huge these days! Soda is like... in buckets. xD

It's probably way too bug, but for things like water I guess it's pretty nice!

Yeah. My mom always gets me the large popcorn cause she knows I love it. Even though I usually stuff my face throughout the whole movie, there's still a little less than half the bucket full.

When i buy a drink I'm always kinda like, damn. how am I supposed to finish this thing? And then i think, what makes it so expensive? Is it made out of unicorn piss?

And people wonder why obesity is on the rise lol

Really at theaters I just can't stand the pricing.

I live in uk and usually we always buy medium stuff cause it's an average size but I got to Florida a lot ( I have been 14 times) and last time we went I also saw super 8 and I always get salted popcorn which is way more salted ther wand portions are huge there but we will also get milk duds there but they come in tiny packs so we buy on out of target usually before we go

LolAmerica.

It's amusing how mindsets differentiate by country. In Japan for example you can buy a large cola for the same price as a small one, but regardless of this people generally buy the smaller one just because that's all they want to drink. If that was the same in America nobody would buy the small ones.

Tips for success: Bring your own candy/highly nutritious food.

(well actually the only reason I started doing this was because I had many friends who are allergic to many different things and also, the portion sizes are small and very expensive.)

Actually an intriguing test... I think it would entirely depend on free refills though.

The prices are as astronomical as the portion sizes at the theatre where I live. But I buy the large anyway and eat most of it solely by myself. Just because.

They probably only had one size then.

The large sizes for a small are probably because they think you will eat/drink it through the entire movie.I wouldn't like it if I ate all of my popcorn before the movie ends,I'd starve for more lol.

If I'm sitting through a long movie I always get an energy drink or a large sodur. I usually end up sharing snacks and junk anyway so it doesn't bother me that the portions are huge. Keep in mind what you're paying. Also on the topic of obesity and movie theaters.. who the hell has the money to go to the movies enough times to get fat. Cmon guys.
