Move Out Help...

I've been planning to place a bridge under my plaza for the longest time, so that I can have my three bridges set finally. However, when I went to place it, it said a resident's home is too close. So I decided to try and move out Kody, but I'm not sure if he's the villager in question who's a pain.

Under where I want to put my bridge, I have Lolly, Tangy, and Truffle's houses that also might be in question. And there's a rock who is, quite frankly, a jerk. I'm not sure if any of these also conflict w/ my bridge placement.

I have no idea how much space is required to build a bridge, but I'm assuming I need a four or five square buffer between the bridge and the houses?

Anyway, I'd really like if someone could clarify/check out my dream town to see if their are any conflicts. I've already told Kody he's clear to move out, but he hasn't yet, and I'd like to be able to stop him if he doesn't actually need to go.

12x12 space for bridges. some other people say it's 12x6 however it's safer to assume 12x12 for a nice rounded square.

Can confirm clearance is less than 12x12.



I tend to think it's 8x6, but I have seen instances of it seeming to inexplicably need more (scenarios such as the OP's of building a new bridge near existing houses).

For the record, the house was built after the bridge.

It wouldn't make sense for 8x8 in my case. Cuz I wanted to plant a bridge by Diana's house and Isabelle says my Police Station was in the way. The Police Station from Diana's house is more than 8 tiles wide.

You can't plot a bridge down if there's a pre-existing building near by. However you can plot a house down near a pre-existing bridge.
New buildings and PWPs could be 1 block away from your pre-existing bridge. The space requirements change depends on which construction was there first.

Yeah, quite likely the clearance is greater for building bridges and less for building things near bridges, now that I think about it.
There's a ton of stories on the internet about people demolishing a bridge in order to replace it and not being able to.

Ahhh, so if I wanted to put in my bridge I'd probably have to get rid of all my villagers in that location? Wow, that kinda sucks. I hope they change that in the next one. I guess I'll just work on making my other bridges red ones. Thanks for your help!

Diana is my original villager so her house (the purple roof) was there first. Isabelle wouldn't let me plot the bridge near Diana's house. So that's why there's 6 spaces in between Diana's house and the bridge.
Next I needed a third character and I plotted my character's house in line with Diana's house and the bridge. Notice how the bridge space requirement suddenly doesn't apply to my new character's house. Any new houses will follow the house space requirement.
Also when I was plot resetting for Fang. I noticed Fang plotted his house 1 tile away from my bridge a couple of times.

Thanks for posting that picture, really helpful. I'm thinking of getting rid of a bridge so that I can hopefully get the fairy-tale one, but I was unsure about the space requirements and not willing to risk it as I have many dreamies accomplished. Will have to take a look at my town spacing later, but this is very helpful.

Ugh, 6 spaces. This is proving to be very annoying... why 6? Completely unnecessary ;___;
