There's the obvious ones like Drago and Julian in terms of design but I feel like Tucker barley gets mentioned... He's a mammoth! My HC is he is unfrozen from 10000 years ago and he is just adapting to modern life. He may possibly be the oldest villager in the game. It'd be cool to see more prehistoric villagers like smilodons and terror birds later on ( they bring back Dodos afterall!)
I think her forever smile says enough, but to quote the wiki page:

Clay’s Japanese name is actually Dogurou, and he’s named after ancient Japanese figures called dogu. Kind of like coco/yayoi is based on haniwa. You can actually get a dogu figure in game, it’s the Ancient Statue.

Wow I really like it how much of the characters have a story behind their looks, names or furniture.It's really fun to read!
I agree, I love how many of the characters have history/ a story behind their designs.
all the ones with like a "theme" (i guess you could call it) i find the most unique.

That being said, since he's smug, I feel like he totally would cover it.
Normally I'm not overly fond of super themed villagers, but Tangy is just SO unique and weird I can't help but love her!

Wait, does Clay resemble a wrestler? I thought right away he was based off those figures, I never once thought wrestler, but now I'm questioning myself...
That being said, no offense, but he's one of my least favorite villagers
I just don't find him cute at all.But he haunts my campsite and Nook Miles Islands, I've run into him multiple times

No one has mentioned him yet so I will mention my man Rasher right now. He's unique since he's, y'know, the only villager in the entire series to be scarred, and it's also kind of twisted for a childrens game to have a character like that when he has scaring, is deep red, and his name is quite literally in reference to a rasher of bacon... 
Additionally, I love how his eyes look when he's smiling, and on top of that he's one of the few villagers to show their teeth during certain reactions / animations.
Another vote goes to Hopkins since he's... literally an inflatable.
And my last vote's going to Alice because she's probably the only villager (or one of the only ones) to have direct references to their uniqueness in at least one of their character bios. Her Pocket Camp one goes something like this: "Alice loves her blue eyes and her pink/red nose because it makes her unique, but she worries that her freckles might take it too far. She doesn't want to stand out THAT much!"
oh and also all the sanrio and non-AC amiibo villagers. Can't get more exclusive than that!

... and just while I was typing it out I thought to myself "but what if there IS another villager with a scar? Do you know for certain? There's hundreds of them, he might not be the only one", and yet I still typed it out
But yeah, Spike's a unique golden boy as well and I do love his design

I would say Lucky and Raddle. One is a mummy looking dog and the other is a surgical mask wearing frog. You really have to wonder what their backstories are. Honorable mention goes to Goose, who is clearly a chicken. In pocket camp iirc one of his liked items was the cooked turkey.

I always thought Punchy and Marshal were unique looking because their “default” facial expressions does not match their personality. Same I think can be said about Raymond and a few others. I admit that I am kind of biased since they are three of my favorites

I think Ankha is really unique. I love the theme behind her design. If I’m not mistaken, cats were cherished animals (I think they were worshipped at one point) in ancient Egypt, so I think it’s interesting for her to be a cat and designed like a Pharaoh. ^.^ I really love the cultural and historical references/symbolism.

I find Kabuki, Pekoe, Savannah, Ribbot, and Penelope unique too.
Forgot to mention Static. He’s based off of lighting. It’s funny to have him around especially if it’s raining heavily and thunderstorms are going off since it’s like he has thunderstorm powers.

A lot of the ostriches are unique. Flora's and Phoebe been mentioned a lot, but Gladys is a Japanese crane, Cranston is a different kind of crane, Blanche is a stork, and Julia is a flamingo.
Usually I try not to repeat species in my town, but because the ostriches all look so different, I actually have three of them right now!
