I love New Horizons, I really do: it gave us a really fresh, new take on the classic formula. However, it could not go unnoticed that some elements I loved in previous games are missing (or at least I haven't encountered them yet). Of course, since NH is on a modern platform we could receive updates and new content for 5 years, yet I am curious what other people are missing. Here is my list (in no particular order):
1. Inviting villagers to hang out with you
In previous games it was possible to invite villagers to your home to show them around and they could also ask to visit you/invite you to their home. I really loved that I could fix a date with them and I had to show up or otherwise they got mad at me (hence, even they could forgot a date which was amazing!) I decorated my house so much and I can only show it off to my friends, not my animal friends. This feature is sourly missing at the moment.
2. Mean villagers
I remember when I met my first neighbor in the Gamecube original, Tom (the cat), and he was kinda an *******. He was mean for no reason and even on the loading screen he told me he has no idea who I was when I told my name. What a scumbag... Later on he warmed up to me and our friendship was much more meaningful due to that. I still love cranky villagers - in fact 3 out of 10 in my town are cranky - but they are nice from the very beginning. The only time I villager was mean to me when my uchi neighbor told me this island is too small for the two of us, but that was more annoying then amusing since she repeats the same line every day.
3. Additional facilities
This is the one that is most likely to change over time. I am sure everyone heard of the rumors about Redd and Brewster, but I hope my favorite, Katerina will be added to. I loved to receive my fortunes and having some luck element in the game. The Police station with Booker, the dimwitted dog officer and the Reset Center would be cool too.
4. More villagers!
In the first Animal Crossing you could have 15 villagers in your town. That was the highest count and it never returned. I wish we could have 15 villagers again to make our village look like a really booming little town.
What are your most missed elements from previous games? What new content you would love to see as an update?
