I had a lot of trouble the with arowana as well! If you go to the island late at night, you can find lots of scarab beetles on fruit trees!

i know but they are spooped way too easy

The mole cricket!! It annoys me so much just thinking about it.

It took so long to dig one up as I have a lot of flowers, and the first one I found I managed to fumble. I think I only managed to catch my one for the museum because I hadn't filled up the holes I had previously dug up, so it had to turn back and run towards me. I was lucky. So lucky and relieved.

I don't think it spawns under any space with something on it, so I can find them pretty easily in my town which has a ton of paths and flowers since they seem to always be under the one or two spaces that are open in the area.

they scared me ****less when i was little... thanks for the tip im gonna have to not play during the evening :3

All they do is send you back to your house. They won't kill you. Don't be scared. I felt so tempted to tell you that they could kill you.

The Red King Crab is driving me NUTS! It's one of the two diving creatures I still need (the other is the spiny lobster which I have to wait to get till next year...ugh...) EVERY TIME I find a giant diving shadow it goes under the darn rope! I hope I get it soon...

It's best to try to get between the shadow and the rope to force it to swim away from the rope. Then it's pretty easy to catch.

The salmons weren't hard to find at all! :D Is the saddled birchir the nigh-time equivalent of the snakehead? Because it was that one that took the longest for me to catch. The island tours are taunting us when all you catch is rare fish! :(

The guide I read said that the mole cricket did spawn under flowers, but I can't remember if it did spawn under it or not. I don't think it did.

Screw that mole cricket! After so many holes I discovered that it is actually further north (maybe the opposite - my memory is hazy) than it sounds.

Tarantula, I ran away every time I saw it lol...OTL I don't know why, it scared me.

aww man :p anyways it's more annoying when you have planted too much i had to cut down quite a lot..also you need to be exact with the sneaking

For me, the most annoying by far is the Coelecanth.

Mainly because, on any day that it rains or snows in my towns, the storm is over by noon... and the Coelecanth can only be caught after 4pm.

My game's weather RNG is actively preventing me from catching it. >_>

wow man that's terribly bad luck with weather. i'm usually p lucky with the weather..try moving the times around in the game?

mine was p easy to get once i was on the right times..

Yeah.. for myself atm it's the orchid mantis and tarantula/scorpion. The former because I never get them and I jav a crapton of white purple/white flowers already.. might just move a few to a place where I can see better ._.

Also those night creepers because they never show up.. and I think I have quite a few open areas as well idek.

And I never got stringfish I think back in the "days" so...

Try going to the island during the day time for the orchid mantis. Bring a white flower from your town and leave it on the beach.
Last week the mayor caught 8 each day. Found it hard to find in my town that was full of flowers.
Fossil Hunter/ hide n seek will let you take bugs back.

The hardest one was the tarantula and scorpion. Found the first one hard to get. Once I figure them out all my players have one except my beautiful town side players. The extra players have them on display in their houses. No way was I selling them.
The Gar for 4 of my players was a pain. It took along time to spawn and than I lost it. Walking the full length of the river and back again helped. Found that each player caught certain fish a lot. One caught Gars all the time while the others fished for hours.

The King Salmon can be a pain to catch. Think I spent 2 hours trying to get one for one of my players.

@stitch, thanks i will try that :) Might be easier since I got like one-two in total in my town and they were all under bad places ...

Also.. that saddled bichir I think I did s&c like 15 times last night.. nope

I hate diving because of the jellies :( I also haven't caught a tarantula or scorpion yet.

btw what the hell is that weird frog looking creature/shadow in ponds and rivers? I have no idea how to catch it.

Diving beetle? You need to wait until it goes up to the surface and turn a lighter blue shade before you can swing a net.

GOT THE ORCHID MANTIS YES.

also if anyone have tips for (re)spwaning the bichir, scarab betle and those night monsters i'd love you forever. i just can't get even less see them :[

Grasshoppers and locusts, mostly because of the island. I always go at dusk and I have to either catch them or chase them off so beetles will spawn, but they're hard to catch and even harder to chase off. you think you've scared them and they're running away? As soon as you turn back they just go about their business again. ARGH.

But the tarantula/scorpion has to be up there as well, just because I've only seen them a very small handful of times, and they always suicide before I can catch them. -.-

Scorpions and tarantulas were the hardest for me to catch. I usually avoid playing at night in the Summer because I don't want to even see those icky bugs. I did catch them for my Museum, but I had to make myself do it (ick, yuck, nasty bugs *shudders*).

One Summer night I was just chillin' out standing by the river in my NL town when I saw something moving in the flowers by my feet. I nearly screamed in RL when I realized it was a scorpion! I got out my net and flailed wildly about and somehow managed to catch it before it bit me! It took awhile for my heartbeat to return to normal after that!
