Without saying too much, they're not exactly a religion I would follow. I admire them for their outreach to people -- like sharing the gospel (even though they're super persistent). I just don't agree with the kids having to marry and start a family as soon as they finish their mission. It's part of their beliefs yeah, but I wouldn't want to be pressured to marry before I hit a certain age. O: anyway, I respect them for their work, but I would never convert to Mormonism is all.
Well, I will never be one.
I've never met anyone who was a mormon but I'd figure they are just the same as other people accept they are a member of church.
I'm not a Mormon so I don't really feel like I'm in a position to criticise or comment on Mormonism. Nor will someone's religion affect the opinion of them I have.
not a mormon, but i went to many mormon events and stuff because my friend invites me to them (she is a mormon) and they are all generally very nice. nothing much to say about that.
i'm not a mormon and i don't think i know anyone who is. pretty sure the church isn't really big in sweden (or maybe i've just not noticed it?) so yyeah. (googled it and apparently it has like 9k members in sweden lol ok guess it's bigger than i thought)
we learnt about it in religion class and idk, i don't really know a ton about them but also i don't really care? like, the cult things i've heard about it don't really seem to be a thing for the whole church so uh yyeah. guess it's alright lmao
not a mormon and i dont think ive ever encountered one. i dont necessarily have an opinion on them, theyre just people with beliefs like the rest of us
Yep. Same here. It also really bothers me when people show up at your door to "spread the word of the good lord." I mean, I get it, you whole-heartedly believe what you're preaching, you want others to believe it so they don't go to hell, but almost no one wants a 30 minute lecture with pamphlets from some guy on their porch.
Two of my best friends growing up were mormon, and I've known quite a few in the last few years. They have all been very nice, normal, people. I personally would not become a mormon, but I have no problem with them.
Growing up in a highly Mormon neighborhood, and going to the Mormon church for a couple years, I will say I have different opinions on the different people. The people across the street, for example. They discriminate you if you aren't a Mormon. The bishop of our other ward was very nice and willing to help.
I personally think some of the rules they have to follow in church are insane though. You can't show your shoulders or stomach, and my friend has strict clothing restrictions. She has to wear a tanktop and tight but not too tight clothes. This is in 100 degree weather.
They also can't play on Sundays, and some families go as far as to no electronics or outside time.
They also fast, which annoys me because I like my food.
The stuff they have to memorize in church is just so long and hard. When I went, we had to memorize some stuff, long stuff.
I personally felt weird going to church, since my family doesn't. We often get discriminated, yet some people are willing to help.
Believe in what you want to believe in, I don't care.
EDIT: Those missionaries bug me though. I don't want to hear of your religion thanks. I don't want to hear about Jesus either, so please just look at the no soliciting sign. It applies to you, the pizza delivery people notice it, why don't you?
They kind of scare me? I mean at least the blatant bicycle ones... two of them cut me off on both sides of the walkway at the side of the road so I couldn't maneuver around them unless I wanted to run into traffic and talked to me for about 45 minutes at least in the baking hot sun when I was trying to walk across town to my house... One of them kept asking where I lived so I gave him a place that was a whiles away as reference and he gave me his personal phone number like "Well we can meet there if you ever want to talk, and I don't mean just about God." And I just laughed nervously and agreed, they gave me a book of Mormon and finally left me alone. It was just creepy and weird, they sounded like robots and were repeating word for word what the other had said. It was just an ultra creepy encounter. And I am sure I know some normal Mormons who I don't know are Mormons, but any ultra devout people I usually can't stand, cause they alwaaaaaays try to save me, the girl wearing all black. Cause I definitely need saving.
