Standing up with an armful of stuff I picked up, I notice her enter, while trying to put her shoe on. "You know, putting shoes on is easier when you sit down..."

"I would do that but then I would have to untie them."

"...You don't untie them?"

"No I just slide them on."

"Why?" That's so much harder than untying them and then tying them again! I think. Why would anyone do it that way?

"I can not tie them."

"Really? ...I'll have to teach you... Everyone should know how to tie their laces..."

"thanks you" I say and let her teach me.

I bend down and untie her laces, then start to teach her how to tie them. "See, you start by making a loop..." I teach her all the steps, demonstrating as I go.
