Minecraft Redstone Wiring Issue

I am currently on the 1.5.1 update for Minecraft.
I have built a tower where I have a secret bookcase exit that leads to a balcony with stairs.

Now here is where I am getting really confused...

I really want to be able to turn on two levers inside of my tower which are connected to the top and bottom pistons and I want to also have two levers outside that will power the same pistons by knocking off the connection that I turned on to get outside and close the bookcase doors.
I also need them to work in reverse as well.

If this message has been long-winded and confusing, I will do my best to rephrase it.

That sounds easy enough. In order to get something to be in the on position, you need to have it connected to a redstone torch. It's a little hard to say how to do it. You need the torch on the back of wall that the switch is connected to and then run the redstone to connect to the pistons. I know it's not a perfect explanation, but redstone's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. You have to think logically unlogically. If you need any help with what I just said, I'll try to figure out a way to show you.

I have looked on YouTube and all of the videos that I saw are nothing even close to the wiring connection solution that I need.

I will explain it better...
I need FOUR levers to power THREE pistons, but have it so that the opposite levers can turn off the previous connection so to be able to close the piston doors.

Oh man, I'd have to do some major messing around. It may or may not be possible considering switches work as both on and off. All of the redstone would have to connect, anyways. You can only have one connection to a piston for now. I don't think what you're asking for is possible.

I have confirmed this redstone connection to work as I was able to connect another redstone wire to two levers and I am able to make it turn on and off by both levers.

It's not that hard to do, but I'm still unsure of what you're asking. I thought you wanted it to where one could only turn it on and the other two could only turn it off.

I just want it so I can have a lever on the outside and a lever on the inside that will turn pistons on and off.

They are basically a permanent source of power if you place them next to redstone wire.

Honestly, it's easier to use a button than it is to use a lever if you want it to be connected from both sides.

Having a lever on both sides will cause problems because if you close the door from one side you won't be able to open it from the other side as a lever gives a constant "on" or "off" redstone signal.

If you set up buttons with a delay using repeaters and gates then you can use a button to open from both sides with no problem.
