It feels too little, too late to me.
I was considering the Wii U version at first despite owning it twice already (PC/PS3) since this is a game where a dedicated inventory/menu screen on the gamepad would have actually been a great selling point since it fits the game so perfectly...But they couldn't be bothered doing that and just gave the bare minimum of 'off screen play' instead that every half arsed Wii U port gets. Pfft.
It just doesn't really offer anything that other versions don't already have. Off screen play isn't enough for me.
I wonder on how the Wii U port will fare in the coming months and if that would provide some significant-enough sales boost.
Probably won't do well enough to get excited about. The Wii U release has pretty much missed the hype train for Minecraft.
But i'm surprised Nintendo is teaming up with their buisness competitor.
At this point it's not really teaming up. Minecraft is available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Windows Phone, Windows OS
(probably Vista - Windows 10) Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation Vita, iOS, Linux, Android, something called 'Raspberry PI', potatos, dogs, cats, the dishwasher, the microwave...
This is less teaming up with a competitor and more letting Nintendo have the few remaining scraps.

I'm definitely curious to see if it is possible to transfer data between system types (like 360 to Wii U or Wii U to PC) so that you can continue working on the same build regardless of what system you play on.
I highly doubt it.
