I'm completely torn over this. Recently I start to want to have a one species island, but I love my current set up. So I'm making this thread to hear other opinions of what sounds nicer and what you think about this. So for you what sounds more interesting?

My current setup is:
Julian and Colton #Goals

I personally stayed away from all one species because thats what I did in my new leaf town, I had a lot of cats and wolfs. I wanted one from each animal type so I could have diversity. I think the idea is cute but I would get tired of seeing the same animal. Thats just me though

I‘ve thought of doing this myself as well (I already have marshal and pecan living on my island)and with squirrels too(but my line up was a little different, because Tasha is my fav).
i have decided not to because I really like the variety, and having tall villagers. The choice is a tough one so go with what will make you happiest.

Yeah! That is what scares me, that I will love it for a little while and then miss the diversity. I might change Whitney for pecan for the sake of having 1 squirrel.

Right now I'm 70% staying this way, 30% squirrel paradise. What do you think about pecan, is she a good snooty?

To be honest I like variety so I would keep your setup but it is totally up to you!

If only we could have more villagers, this would be easier. LOL

i've actually been tempted to do an all squirrel island too lmao, they're just really cute! personally though, i would stick to having varied species for now since its early in the game, and maybe later if you want a change you could switch!

Yeah I might give a chance to this group, most are my NL villagers so I already love most of them.

I had all deer back in New Leaf and personally wouldn't do it again. It made me feel as if I HAD to stick with the villagers I had because I couldn't just break up the setup (!!) and it got really dull after some time

Personally I'm all about diverse animal towns/islands. It love a ton of the cats and deers so it's sometimes temping for me to ignore them however, I do think I would eventually get kinda tired of them all being the same speicies. The good thing about this game is that there's no 16 villager cycle. So if you ever decide to change your setup, but then regret it, you'll be able to get all your previous villagers back without all that hassle!

All squirrels aesthetic would be super nice ngl... I totally would miss diversity but also get sad if I didn't have an all one species island because that'd sound amazing.

I had Pecan in my new leaf town and loved her because she reminded me of a friend of mine. When I encountered her on a Nook Island I was ecstatic. She is a great snooty, very fashionable when she strolls around town with her shades.

There are a lot of cute snooty and normal squirrels though. It would be tough to choose which one to invite.

To be honest I love the idea of the squirrels, but I don't love all squirrels equally, so you are right about that, I might have some, just for the sake of them being squirrels.

I might buy there pictures/posters, and keep my island the way it is.
What worries me is Raymond, getting him again might be complicated and he is a forever resident. 9 squirrels and a cat.

It's hard to not rule one out.

I had 3 squirrels on my island at one point, and it was super cute! I bumped into Static at a NMT island and almost got him but ended up passing. I personally wouldn't be too worried about a single species island because luckily squirrels come in all different colours and I believe they're one of the only species that have all (or almost all) of the villager personalities so you can choose which ones you want.

To me, there's nothing more similar than personality, even if they look completely different. If they act similar, it doesn't matter what they look like, they're interchangeable, so being from the same species wouldn't worry me.

Ultimately, it's who you like though!

Oof yeah that's going to be difficult. But in the end it's your choice. Since you don't like every squirrel you could always invite the ones that you're unsure about, and have them stay temporary or till you make a solid decision on whether you like them or not. Would be better than making an all squirrel island + Raymond, and then seriously disliking some residents. Just a few ideas.[/QUOTE]

Your current setup is much better, imo. But probably because i'm partial to most of the villagers you have. So maybe just change up one or two of your current villagers? I think it's kind of important to keep some rotating spots or the game gets kind of stale imo.

Well I have an idea. Since your original goal was to have an all squirrel island, how about you do that? Then once you've reached that achievement, you can enjoy it for a little while... and then when you decide you want it different, go ahead and start doing different. Your new goal could be to achieve your #goals couple with Julian and Colton (which is so cute and true by the way - I love Julian and I think they would be adorbs together) and maybe get a few other couples too!!! Like five different species, that in your head are #couples.

I have decided to get just one squirrel, either Sylvana or Pecan, since I posted this I start looking at the squirrels as individuals and honestly I like them as a pack, but I would not have most of them as a stand alone specie at my island, Only Sylvana and Pecan really call me, and Marshal but I already have 3 smugs, so unless we get more plots added, I don't have a spot for him. Since I have Merengue's amiibo, I can get her back easily.

Thank you so much for your comments.

while an all squirrel island could definitely be unique and interesting, i feel like unless you love the squirrel villagers more than your current ones, i would just stick with your current lineup as it could become boring to have just one species on your island ;u;
