I'm gonna drop some more merfolk knowledge upon this community. Feel free to chip in and share with us what you know about marine life.

Did you know in some parts of the indian ocean merfolk use petrified coral as spears to hunt for fish.

Um.....the mermaid thread got closed......
But mermaids haven't been proven to exsist so how can you give a 'fact'...

Guys, seriously, stop. Fighting over whether or not mermaids exist isn't going to do any good. Let people believe what they want to believe.

I agree with Bowie, but pretending to be a mermaid is a bit eh.
Also, mermaids may exist.
*shrugs*
Currently we have no evidence that they do, so saying 'facts' isn't true, but completely ruling out existence of a marine animal very similar to humans isn't right. They may exist, but I doubt they would look like we imagine them to.

I agree, I don't understand why humans get so offended over a harmless belief. Imagining something greater than yourself brings happiness! people are getting mad because I can tear arguments down in a heartbeat

Mermaids from the east west Ocean in northern Scotland use machine guns crafted from plywood and PVA glue to hunt wild chicken nuggets that hide in the Uwanga trees of the central pacific jungles of Moscow.

Mermaids reproduce by impregnating newborn human babies with a mermaid larvae that drains sustenance from the host. After 6 months, the fragile shell of the baby splits in two and the merbaby launches out of the torso and escapes via the nearest plughole. The merbaby will live in the water treatment facility the plughole eventually leads to for up to 17 weeks. It will feed on the water treatment staff throughout this time period. Once the merbaby has reached 17 weeks old and evolves into a mermaid/man, it grows a jetpack and flies to the nearest body of water to live a happy mermaid existence. Then its jetpack falls off and they become sad.

Mermaids taste wonderful if cooked for 18 hours under a slow roast and served with a chocolate hob-nob relish.

I think there would be less issue if the thread was more "what do you think about mermaids" and less "here are some statements facts with no sources to back them up"

Again, stop! This is just ridiculous! Look, I could believe that aliens are going to invade tomorrow and take over the planet. I could believe that a giant cow is going to come along and eat people. I could believe that Perez Hilton is going to be sincerely nice to Lady Gaga. Whatever it is, no matter how bizarre, there is absolutely no reason in the world to insult those people for what they believe in. I believe that as long as they aren't enforcing their beliefs on you or insulting you personally, there is no excuse for the behaviour demonstrated here on this thread and elsewhere. It's ridiculous.

It's insulting to be continuously called a "lower existence" then a person who pretends to be a mermaid :U
Just putting it out there.

Yep. I'm half tempted to post all they said about it her just to prove our point.
