And pens aren't logical, you can't erase them and they smear

I am very particular about my pencils and will only use mechanical if it is the Papermate Clearpoint ones. All the other ones I've tried always mess up on me, so if we're talking your average mechanical pencil, I'd prefer a regular pencil.

As an artist, I must say regular pencils, mechanical break easily if you try to shade with them.

Mechanical pencils because they're always sharp! And you can refill the lead so you only have to bring one pencil to school instead of 4000.

Mechanical. Generally cleaner - e.g. don't need a sharpener and can pull the lead back up inside it when not using it. I don't need to use pencils much.

Pens lol. I don't use pencils at all, they frustrate me.
