So in light of the previous thread being deleted due to actually having the method as evidence, this one doesn't, so no proof. However, a duplication glitch has been found that allows pretty much anything to be duplicated - furniture, nook mile tickets, stacks of resources and so on.

For those of you who do a lot of trading, you may want to be careful that you're either not being ripped off or dealing with duplicated goods if that's something you'd rather avoid. Unfortunately, there's practically no way to tell what has and hasn't been duplicated as far as I can tell.

yikes... they always find a way :(
that sucks if people are ripping off with NMT, resources, etc, but there's literally nothing we can do to tell if it's duped or not. so just be careful trading at your own risk. the upside? these items are not furniture, they're gone anyways once they are used.

Isn't it good in a way if NMTs can be duplicated? Everyone seems to be complaining about them having gained such value. If they can easily be duplicated, 1k+ auctions won't make sense anymore? I haven't heard of that method so I don't know how it works but I mean...
People desperate for NMTs/villagers will have a way to deal with that, and people just wishing for normal trading should hopefully be able to go back to that without everyone asking specifically for NMTs, right...? 🤞

Either that or crazy inflation will mean that instead of 1000 tickets, it'll be way more as their value will be even less. It's ultimately be interesting to see how the economy of the game actually functions after this.

No, that means inflation.
1k NMT will become 2k to 5k or maybe go 10k NMT per dreamie depending on the severity of the duplication's effect.

I've been in a virtual dressup site that literally has near-similarity to Venezuelan bolivars value due to the oversaturation of currency. Both paid currency and free currency.

Yeah that's fair enough... I'm already having trouble imagining what one could do with more than 500 tickets... Trading I guess, but I mean...

They will go from 1k+ auctions to 10k+ actions. More circulation of wealth only leads to inflation.

Yes I get that now...
As someone said before, it'll be interesting to see how that develops...

But I mean in the meantime... It blows my mind when I think NMTs are essentially useless to most people. Some do island hop for sure, but I doubt more than 1k is necessary for that even with the worst luck. And for people using it for occasional island hoping or resources, I don't think having much more than 50 in storage is any use. So thinking people will be having trades for thousands of NMT they're not gonna use for anything else but trading, while they could be doing that exact same thing with bells, while using those bells for tons of things in their town, is really... Interesting...

(Saying that, I did do trades with NMT! I traded 2 villagers for NMT, and used those NMT to island hop/trade for villagers I wanted...)
(Also I may be slightly sliding off topic here, sorry about that, and the huge block of text, oops)

does duplicated nmt mean you'll always get the exact same island? :-O
Oh boy, could you imagine? Raymond islands selling for more than Raymond himself...
People selling gold rock island tickets for more than you can actually make on the island...
Oh, what a great show it would be 🍿

I'm glad it's happened and I hope it does ruin this greedy, greedy economy.

But, while I agree that duplicated NMTs is going to make people want even more, since people that want them to island hop could potentially duplicate them themselves.... won't that crash NMTs value for a while? Why ask for NMTs when you can just have an infinite amount?

Though I'm guessing duplicating NMTs comes with its risks and not many would want to risk their games
