It's not that you won't have time to study each, it's that you'll be learning two foreign languages at the same time. And, especially with two language with as similar pronunciation as Japanese and Spanish, you're bound to get confused with words a lot. A girl in my Japanese class is also taking Spanish, and she mixes up her Japanese words with Spanish words and vice versa all the time. I'm not saying that you can't do it, because it's certainly possible...if you're willing to study long and hard, that is.
