Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash general discussion

Not sure if I should get this game or not its basically like the one from 3ds which I did enjoy but all they added was just mushroom amiibo support which is great new modes and the stages, im not seeing any new stages  idk maybe when it gets close to release they might show more stuff but untill then I'll just wait, its on dell.com for $40 so yea. Also I really hope they add DLC to game because it just seems like there rushing the game. :/

I haven't played a Mario Tennis game since the original one for the Nintendo 64, but I enjoyed that game and am looking forward to picking this up. I'm glad to see that
Dry Bowser
will be playable, I just hope that I'm better at it than I was at Golf and that I can actually unlock things. And if I am inadequate, at least there's Boo to fall back on.

The amiibo support is nice and appreciated, but it doesn't do anything for me personally. I would care if any of the amiibo I have were included, but I know they won't be. Alas, I won't hear "I spike for my friends." anywhere but in my own mind.

Tennis Open is already better if the game doesn't change til release...

It's so bare bones, the character roster has Rosalina which is cool and all but it's the same quality overall. Stages have the same background (lazy as hell on Nintendo's part, like... really?). Mega Mushroom Mode is honestly the most boring gimmick I've seen trying to sell a game. The 3DS special modes aren't coming back it looks like, nor the tournaments? Online is nice and amiibo support sounds cool at first but... it's tennis, what is there for the AI to pick up? It's not a in depth game (Mario Tennis that is, irl definitely has more depth) like Smash Brothers where it can learn combos and other stuff of the like. I can't see myself getting this game unless it drops under $30.

I can see why you think that but they haven't revealed the full game yet so how could one know if a mode will return or not? The trailer says that there are a bunch of bonus modes to choose from.

GameXplain showed footage of a main menu which looked really final (I'd have to go through a 17 minute discussion video to find it), so I'm just going off that. With the game releasing in a month, there's not more they can really reveal before the media copies start going out. They're still assumptions I guess but they're strong.

Yeah but i don't think that Nintendo would release such an incomplete game, i mean that is just not Nintendo like.

Don't want it anymore, i discovered that the game does not even have the option to play with friends. Rip

I've read a review about the game, and indeed it is a rush job.

It's nice that they got the gameplay still flawlessly fun, but its single-player content and presentation certainly leaves a lot to be desired, even for 50$ CAD! Mario Tennis on the N64 (which is also available on Wii U VC for much cheaper) is a much better alternative, especially if local multiplayer is your jam.

I actually only knew about this game from your signature and Rosalina icon. Normally the only sport games I get are Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games series, but this looks fun to play.

What? How did they release this game in today's market without friend lobbies? Mario Kart has them, Smash has them, why not Mario Tennis?

I planned to maybe get this for my birthday, but not anymore. What a complete let down.

It's really weird, it is like Nintendo does not want this game to sell...

okay so i just played this game and im kinda sad that we have to use gamepad to play.. i mean really? im hoping that this game is using controller like the other tennis games for wii or wii u. and the old mario tennis game on wii is using controller too. i cant do much with gamepad.. :(

I found out I'm getting this game for Christmas and tbh i've been watching videos for it and i gotta say, this game looks really fun again. The only downside for me is that there are no online with friends.

I'll eventually get it but it seems like a quick cash grab. Remember the times when Nintendo games were always complete games?
