Animal Crossing: New Leaf took a step in that direction with a formal welcome ceremony when you would first step out of the train. Nonetheless, with the strong bonds some develop with their animal neighbours, it would be a good idea to expand on that concept.

Right now, when a beloved neighbour leaves your towns, they just take a French leave in the middle of the night. Still happy that you see them packing their boxes the day before!

Why wouldn't there be any cutscene where you would see new animal neighbours arriving on the deserted island. And why wouldn't there be different cutscenes whether the neighbour leaving has a good relationship with you or not?

It's too late for such a suggestion now, but I am hoping Nintendo had the idea before I did.

I agree. It would be very nice to see a cut scene where villagers either leave or come onto the island. I would love to be able to see villagers coming to my island with a cute ceremony. I really love your idea. :)

That's something I've been wanting for a long time.
It would be nice to have it added to the town history.

In the new game my wish was to spend time with the new villager when they arrive. Isabelle or Nook arrives at your door and tells you a new villager is moving in tomorrow. Option to random or pick the house spot would be nice.
On the day they arrive I'd like to greet them and spend the day helping them unpack. Before leaving I would like the option to give them a housewarming gift.

I would rather not make a fuss.
I know they aren't real, but I still feel bad when I replace an animal, even if I don't like the design of them.

I don't want to get the goodbye mail either.
That makes me feel even worse.

I think there will be something like this. Nintendo did say there will be a new different type of relationship with your villagers. I hope something like this will be included as it is really cool

I’m not really bothered about it to be honest but if those cutscenes were to occur should they exist, it’s gonna toy my emotions a lot.

I think they'll do something special when villagers move in or leave. After all, we start with just two of them and it looks like we will gradually have more, which will give us the chance to grow fond of them instead of just cycling through them like in NL. I hope there's like a little ceremony or something when they arrive and then maybe everyone saying goodbye when they leave. Cutscenes would be pretty cool as well!

I could imagine a cut scene where you will see either a villager coming with a boat to the island when
moving in or leaving with the same boat when moving out, with a speech bubble pops up where you
will read a text either saying "[Insert name of villager] just arrived [Insert name of your island]!" or
"[Insert name of villager] leaves [Insert name of island] now", while a happy or more sad-ish melody
is playing in the background, depending on the situation. I would really like it if Move in's and move
out's are getting a bit more attention, and getting something like a small cut scene would be very
nice.

Awwww this would be so sweet !! I don’t mind if the arrival of villagers isn’t documented with some ceremony/cutscene, but them leaving should be. Departures are so jarring, abrupt and feel like straight abandonment in the games ! That’s great when it’s people you want to leave, but when it’s someone you weren’t expecting, it sucks you never really get to say goodbye to them ! I hope in new installments, they add a way for us to send them off, and the whole town says their goodbye to them.

As another user above suggested, it’d be such a good idea to let us give housewarming gifts !! And give them a goodbye gift from the town when they leave ! How come only villagers can give us their photo ?! We should be able to give ours back.
