Visitors: Redd and Wisp

Bob moved in today! He's been my best buddy in AC since the Gamecube game. It's nice to have him here too.

Redd was walking around today and I bought a painting from him. He's sketchy, but I love the guy. It's great he's back. I immediately gave the painting to Blathers. It sounds like the museum will be closed tomorrow for the upgrade? Looking forward to checking out the new wing when it opens back up.

Wisp visited tonight. As usual, he didn't give he anything too exciting. He's probably my least favorite visitor, just because he doesn't give anything exclusive and sometimes his spirit parts can be annoying to find.

Other than that, I was mostly fishing at the dock for bells. I managed to catch a bunch of oarfish, tuna, and blue marlin that I'll be saving for CJ's next visit. I do have more than enough money to pay off my loan from getting the second floor of my house, but I'm not sure I want to do that right now. I'd like to start terraforming soon and want to make sure I have enough money to pay for things.

Visitors: KK Slider

I don't know why, but KK Slider hanging around all day long on Saturdays makes his visits feel less special. He looked really ridiculous today too because it was raining most of the day. Makes me feel like they should have a temporary pavilion area for him so he doesn't get rained on like that.

I like the Nature Day Nook Miles + goals. It's too bad there's only 1 per day, but I like that it's guaranteed that you get a 5x goal per day with it, it seems. Normally the 5x goals are random if you get one on a particular day. But they're also different from the norm. Today I had to mail a letter with a flower attached.

The museum was closed all day today. It always feels annoying when a major building is closed all day long.

Today was mostly spent fishing again. Did not catch any coelacanth, despite the rain, but I did catch a lot of oarfish, tuna, and blue marlin. I hope CJ comes next week.

Visitors: Daisy Mae and Redd, Meteor Shower w/o Celeste
Turnip Buying Price: 108

I bought over 400k worth of turnips this time. Last week was a random pattern, so I should have a high probability of a spike (either a small or large). Hopefully it works out for me.

Redd had 2 real artwork today, the motherly statue and the common painting. Luckily, with 2 characters on the island, that means we could get both. I also bought an alternate color humidifer that Redd had which I didn't have. He definitely has a markup, but the markup isn't as bad as I was thinking it would be. I also made a secret path to my secret beach to make it easier to see Redd. It only required minor modification. I like it! I'll probably make something nicer later though.

There was a meteor shower tonight, but Celeste was a no-show. It was a really good meteor show with lots of stars, just like my meteor shower last month. It's just too bad I couldn't get a Celeste DIY.

Turnip Selling Price: 122am (SOLD)/??pm

Argh! I got the random pattern for turnips again. I sold at the 122 price, since generally it seems best to cash out during the random patterns ASAP. At least it was a small profit, but I guess I'm back to waiting until next week. Again.

Leif visited. He had hibiscus bushes and mums today! Hibiscus is my favorite AC bush! And now the only flower type I need is tulips! Please bring some next time, Leif! :) I was very excited about this visit.

Amelia pinged to leave. She's only lived on Mahina for about 2 weeks, but I have 3 snooty villagers and I really want to get a cranky in. I agreed to let her go. If the game let me have more than 10 villagers, I probably would've let her stay. I do like her a lot, but Mahina has never had a cranky. Ever. I'd like to have 1 of each type.

Visitor: Flick

Flick was here. I didn't have anything to sell him really this time, so he didn't help me make much money. I did order a common bluebottle model from him while he was here.

The primary thing I worked on was starting some terraforming ideas. I want to move the shops by resident services to make a sort of downtown/shopping district area. Right now, they're on the other side of the map. I built a potential plot site for them, but I want to let the idea simmer in my head for a day or two before I put in the order with Tom Nook to start moving buildings.

Basically the idea right now is to have the shops to the right of resident services, with a park area (fountain, benches, trees, etc) to the south of that. There will be cliffs immediately behind the shops, with a slope (exact placement of slope TBD) going up to what will be the villager residential area. I'm trying to make this look nice, but as space efficient as possible, so I have a lot of my island available to do all kinds of things with.

Visitor: Gulliver, Ricky at campsite

WOW! I finally had a camper outside of the first mandatory one! Unfortunately it was someone I didn't care about, so I didn't invite him. It was kinda fun to play a few games with him though.

I visited a bunch of islands to try to find a new villager to fill in Amelia's spot. The most interesting one I found was Mitzi, but that would put me at 3 normals. I need a cranky! I did find a few cranky types, but I didn't like them. Oh well, hopefully no one takes the spot tomorrow and I can continue the search then.

I also officially put some bells toward my island plan. I am having Able Sisters moved. I also got an incline kit, but haven't actually placed it yet. I want to make sure I really am good for my cliff design before I place it. I'll probably place it in the next day or so.

Visitor: Saharah

No one moved in Amelia's old spot. I did more island hopping but still didn't find anyone interesting.

Able Sisters is in its new spot and looks great! I am now having Nook's Cranny moved to its new spot next to Able's. I also set up the donation plot for the cliff incline. Terraforming progress is being made!

It seems like we're doing a similar thing with both our shops. I like the two story setup, as it looks good and it's also very practical.

I think buildings in general in this game also look very good backed up against a cliff. It's nice that thanks to terraforming it's easier to make that happen.

Also, it's handy to have buildings against a cliff because then fossils can't spawn behind them. It hasn't been a problem for me yet in NH, but I had fossils spawn behind buildings all the time in NL.

Fortunately, I haven't seen fossils spawning behind buildings either. I think they managed to avoid this being a possibility. I imagine (and I have no proof or evidence of that, it's just gut feeling) that they added some kind of "radius" around the buildings that prevent fossils from spawning within that radius, maybe something like two squares/tiles immediately adjacent to the building.

Visitor: Kicks

The May Day puzzle maze was fun. Too bad it was so short. It took me a few tries to figure out how to have 3 fruits left at the end so I could bash the 3 rocks where more bell tickets were. But I'm glad to say I got all of the bell tickets and Rover's briefcase in the end.

Kicks visited again. I really hope he eventually gets a shop. It felt like a waste for him to have a full shop in NL because you could collect all of the shoes and socks in only a few months. It'd be neat if he shared a shop with Able Sisters maybe, since bags are the only thing he sells exclusively that they don't.

Didn't do any terraforming progress since I got distracted by the new things. Caught a few of the new bugs. Looking forward to collecting all of the new-to-northern-hemisphere bugs and fish.

Still have an empty plot but only visited a few islands. Hoping it isn't filled up with a random, but the longer it stays open, I know the chances are higher.

Saturday May 2
Visitor: KK Slider

It rained for nearly all of Saturday again. Poor KK!

Still haven't found a cranky I want, but I worry about that open plot. It's day 4 of it being open. I ended up finding Gladys on an island. I like her a lot and I want to have a Japanese themed island, so she's perfect. I ended up inviting her. That takes me up to 3 normals. I think I'll end up trying to get Poppy to move out. I like Poppy a lot, but I like Gladys and Kiki more. I also had Poppy back in NL, so it's nice to have a new villager I've never had before (Gladys).

I also did a lot of construction on my island. I finished paying off the incline that's going to the cliff above the shops. I also built more cliff areas and put in the order to have my own house moved. I don't know where I want it long term, but it's in the way of this whole construction project. It needed to go.

Alright, go big or go home. I bought over 1m bells worth of turnips for the first time in NH. I was a random pattern last week, so here's hoping I get one of the spike, preferably big spike, patterns.

Leif didn't have tulips for me, unfortunately. But I did redo my hybrid breeding area. I've been doing well with hybrids, but I want to see if this helps me make hybrids more efficiently.

I also started working on my park area a little bit.

Turnip Selling Price: 118am/101pm

Ugh! A random pattern again! 3rd week in a row! Hopefully I can make a profit on my turnips this week. Since I have a trial online membership, might end up trying to sell on someone else's island.

Saharah was a jerk and gave me 2 of the same mysterious wall - the one for buying and the one for the tickets. That's never happened before. Oh well. I guess I have possible trade fodder.

Nook's Cranny had tulips today, the last flower type I needed. What was really interesting is they've never had tulips before. The 4 types he had before was windflowers, lillies, hyacinths, and pansies. It sounds to me the theory that Nook's Cranny is locked to 4 specific flower types is not true... or at least, is no longer true now post-update.

I did some trading, which was super important because I finally got peaches and apples. I have all of the fruits! I also got some alternate Nook Miles furniture colors, got some new DIYs, and placed orders with others to get more alternate Nook Miles furniture colors and the Pocket Camp items. Things are going well!

Husband is having a lot of fun terraforming according to our plans, so I'll let him go through the efforts. We're continuing along with the villager residential area. It's coming along nicely.

Visitor: Label
Turnip Selling Price: 138am (SOLD)/120pm

I am proud of myself that I seem to keep hitting at my island's high for the week for turnips when I decide to sell. Knowing how turnips work in this game, plus using Turnip Prophet, works extremely well. I know I could've sold at someone else's island, but it would've been 3 trips. Did not want to pay 3 trips worth of entry fee, nor deal with long queues or loading times. I'd rather spend my time trading.

I actually made up for my disappointment in profits in selling some TBT for IGB. That will hold me off while I continue to hope my island spikes next week.

Label wanted me to make a sporty outfit this time. It was super easy since I had a ton of baseball hats and other things like that in my storage from buying up all of the new stuff Able's has every day. I really hope Label gets a shop of her own at some point. The dressing up thing is mildly fun, but I'm already getting bored of it. I don't want her to take up potential visitor slots of a visitor I'd rather see.

Poppy's house is now up on the 2nd tier above my shops. It looks good! I put in the order to move Whitney's house next to Poppy up there, as well as paying off an incline. Husband also made some mini-waterfalls between our projected house plot areas that look nice.

I'm looking forward to when all of the villager houses are moved. Once they are, I think I might want to pay for a full online account and start hosting crafting/shopping visits. It will be nice and easy, since everything will be all together with the shopping and (villagers only) residential district all combined.

Visitors: Leif, Wisp

Leif! Again! I just had him on Sunday. I'm just annoyed because it's now been a month since CJ last visited (excluding the fishing tournament, which you couldn't order a model from). My storage is getting so much high value fish. I want to sell them! I'd be OK with Leif if he sold some of the other bushes I haven't seen yet, but of course not.

Whitney's house is on the 2nd tier, now I put in an order to move Piper. The terraforming is going well!

Not too much going on for my island otherwise. I mostly did a bunch more trading.

I ended up getting Wisp late last night, so I'll edit him in shortly to yesterday's post to remind me that I had him.

I got Kicks today and he had a bunch of new things, some really interesting.

My seeds for my hybrid area have finally all grown up and so hopefully I start getting good results for my hybrid area really soon. Hybrids are a fun side diversion. I ended up getting most of my hybrids from others in NL, but every single one of my hybrids so far in NH I have grown myself. I'm really proud of that. It's not too hard to do once you understand how it works. Since flowers can't die in NH and rain counts as me watering them (and it's been raining a lot lately in-game), it's actually lower effort than it feels like it was in the past, even though there's more flower types and therefore more hybrid types.

I'm so looking forward to next week when all of the villager houses will be moved. Then I can start doing the real design for my island. If new commercial buildings, say for instance a Dream Suite or Cafe, pop up - I already have a good spot to put them in. But even if they don't pop up, I do have ideas of how to design things.

I took a screenshot of my map before I started all of this. I'm looking forward to when everything is done and then I'll post a true before and after picture and write-up.

Visitor: CJ

OMG! It's CJ! The last regular (non-fishing tournament) visit from him was April 6 - a little over a month ago. I had SO MANY large fish to sell to him. I'm glad I could finally clear that out. Since tuna are no longer in season in northern hemisphere and I had a glut of tuna in my storage, I decided to order a tuna model. I'm curious how big it will be. But maybe it won't be very big because Flick doesn't care about fish like he does bugs.

Something neat that happened is it was my first thunderstorm in NH! It has been raining a lot lately in-game, but this was the first time I got to see thunder and lightning. It was neat. Unfortunately the actual storm part only lasted about an hour. It then went back to regular raining for the rest of the day.

Been having a great week with my trial online subscription. I visited 2 different catalog towns, got to see Celeste a few times, went shopping at others' stores, saw Saharah once, got freebies from some very generous people, and did EXTREMELY productive trades. I have now traded for most of the things I wanted the very most, so I'm very satisfied. I only have 2 more days left on it, so I'm still going to keep at it and see what I can continue to get.

Requested Bubblegum KK today. Once again, rain when KK is here. 3 weeks in a row. It's starting to become a pattern!

Speaking of rain, I was really successful. Without fishing too hard or for too long, I got 5 or 6 coelacanth and a few oarfish. Too bad I couldn't get my giant trevally. Hopefully I'll get it one of these days.

Nothing exciting really happened today. Just busy trading and doing other things in real life.
