Lopez or Zell?

I'm looking for a Smug, but I can't decide between these two, I really like them both. Right now I have Kyle and I love him, but his house is kinda an eyesore in my town, lol. So I'm thinking about replacing him. I don't like Lopez's normal shirt, so I'll be gifting him the pleather vest until he wears it. I think Lopez's eyes are really cool. I love Zell's colors and think he's adorable, but his sleepy eyes make me think he'd be a lazy. Who do you like better?

This is a tough one! I love both of their designs very much but I would say that Lopez is more... striking (in a good way lol) I don't think he looks like a lazy, I like he just looks really cool and definitely smug I would say that you can't go wrong with either, they are both gorgeous! Sorry for not being much help. I voted lopez btw. Do tell who you end up going with when you decide!

Personally, I prefer Lopez over Zell. I had him for a while in one of my towns back then and he's
a charming villager, besides I also like his design a lot. When it comes to Zell, he's in general not
bad, but I also mistaken him here and there for a lazy because of his look. Overall, I would say
go with Lopez.

I love Lopez’s face and markings but I think Zell’s colouring and horns look really cool!! I wish I can mash them up lol.
But I agree with you that Zell’s expression kinda makes him look like he’d be a lazy whereas Lopez really looks smug to me. Both are cool though! Maybe the deciding factor should be which house exterior you like better? Sometimes if I can’t choose I look at their houses and see which looks better or matches my town better. (personally I think Lopez house is nicer too )

I like them both. I had Lopez as one of my first random move-ins in Sakura and he quickly became a favorite. I only moved him out because his house was literally a few steps in front of mine and that finally got too frustrating for me to deal with. But he's awesome and I like his house too.

I've decided on Zell for my town of Nocturne because he fits the overall aesthetic and I've always thought he looked cool. I like his house too. So I bought Zell's Amiibo card, but I haven't moved any permanent villagers in yet, so I still haven't interacted with him yet.

Based on that, I voted for Lopez because I have the most experience with him. But I think they're both nice villagers.

Well, I vote Lopez. He exudes smug, even his expression is perfectly arrogant ! And I like his design more, I don’t like Zell’s at all and his expression is offputting to me. But I’m sure that’s something you’d get use to after a while.
LadyDestani mentioned their amiibo cards and I just want to say, doesn’t Zell look like he’s about to sell something after school on his? LOL...

On their houses, Lopez’s really blows. It’s all the multifinished wood furniture. Zell’s home is gorgeous though, and looks almost like an at home casino.. Whyever he’d need that.

On the very minor details, I like Zell’s name more. He has a true smug quote, whereas Lopez’s I think is a joke about deers getting hit by cars lol.. Both of their original catchphrases are garbage. But I usually prefer villagers that look better, and that’s why I went with Lopez.

Both are really great villagers, but I voted for Zell because I like his design much better than Lopez's. Also, I don't think Zell looks like a lazy at all. To me he has this sort of calm look, which I think is perfect for a smug villager. c:

I picked Zell because I already had Lopez in my town, so I'd want something new. Plus, I like his color scheme a lot more and his eyes would definitely suit the smug personality. Zell also sounds cooler.

If it were up to me I'd go for Zell. I like both his looks and his house a little more. They're both pretty cool, though so you'll be fine either way.

Thanks everyone. I really like both, so I went ahead and bought both of their amiibo cards. I'm gonna start with Zell and I can always switch him out later if I change my mind.
