I was cycling today because I've been trying to get Felicity out for awhile now.
I took a break, got some lunch, come back, and load up my game.
Only to come back to that infamous message.
Ugh... Felicity's gone and the bells I was meaning to transfer over to Komorebi.

I'm actually really sad, because my friend worked super hard to get me Felicity.
But it's not like I've never had her before so, it's okay. I guess.

Ugh that sounds awful x(
I'm sorry that happened, but it seems to be fairly common in cycling towns :/

that sounds really awful ): I'm sorry that happened to you. heard it's common in cycling towns.

That's terrible! Do we as a community know the reason towns corrupt? I'm also an avid sims player, and that community has figured out what to avoid in-game to stay away from corruption. I wonder if there's a reason ACNL corrupts?

Oh no! That's terrible! Is there a reason why cycling towns seem to be hit with this more often than others?

Could it be excessively TT'ing, maybe? Or is it more technical, like.. something gone wrong when trying to back-up the data on SD card? :confused:

@OP I am sorry that happened :<

From what I've read, corruption seems to happen when you turn off your game too soon during the saving process. Since cycling towns do A LOT of saving & game-resetting, there will be a much higher incidence rate of corruption among them as opposed to the general population of ACNL players.

Of course, this does not mean that there aren't other causes for corruption, as there well may be.

That's horrible. What happens when your data gets corrupt? Do you have to start all over again? Can you copy your save files from your SD card to your computer in case of a catastrophe?

Aw no, that's just rotten!

Let me know if I can be of any help to get your town up and running again!

@matty: Physical copy.
@Manzanas: It wipes everything. :( Which isn't a big deal, considering I was only cycling for myself this time around. Felicity was my only concern and the bells.
@Freckles: That's so sweet. Thank you. :)

It just happened out of nowhere. I didn't drop my device and I wait until the title screen to power off. I was getting frustrated because Felicity just wouldn't leave so I took a break and I guess she left in the permanent sense of the word now, lol. I hope I can get her back eventually. I was sad when she left my main and I was really happy to get her back to move into my new second town.

Physical copy corruption is really scary, I use physical copies for all my games and only buy eshop if it's like an NES game or something. I use physical copies because they are not supposed to corrupt. Luckily I have never had corruption but still these stories really scare me.

I think it was just a freak thing. I was hardcore working that copy. I probably messed up somewhere along the lines. I hope it never happens to my main and I would never wish it on anyone. I hope the best for your games. :) It was probably my bad, if it's of any comfort/solace. :)

This really scares me too!! I have a physical copy and have played my town the way I set it up originally for well over a year now ... I TT very little but I did a lot when I first was starting my town. I think I would DIE if I lost my town through corruption somehow!! They would probably hear me from the next continent! (or planet)
So sorry you lost Felicity and bells! :(
