Longer treasure hunt time?

A few days ago, one of my villagers asked to do a treasure hunt mini-game. With 3 minutes on the clock, I 100% failed only to figure out it was placed a few spaces behind the villager in question Today another villager asked me the same thing, but this time I had six minutes. Is the time for this mini-game longer now post update? or do they give us more time if we fail the first time? (or was it always 6 minutes and I'm losing my marbles) Has anyone else noticed this?

I only had the treasure hunt happen once. I had 3 minutes, but I found it before that time. Not sure if they updated it. I kinda liked the short time more. Gave it more urgency. I didn't like how in New Leaf the time was always so generous it was almost impossible to fail. Hehe

i've had villagers approach me with both 3-minute and 6-minute treasure hunts; i think it might be random?

i think i had 5 minutes to find the buried item today? or maybe it was 6....

definitely longer than 3 though!

I've had it twice. Once before 1.2.0 and once after. Before it was 3 minutes, and second was 6 minutes like you mentioned. I found the 3 minute one without much issue, I think I found it in a minute and a half.

But I think they may have increased it a bit or its just random. I appreciate it though. As islands get more intricate, it might get harder to find.

I'm glad to hear this, only been on one treasure hunt and with as many trees and flowers as I have on my island, I was not able to find the treasure in time. Haven't been able to try again since no one is asking me to play

I just got a 6 minute one, so easy... I did fail twice before, I think it was like two minutes or something? I ended up finding it once, was directly behind a tree on the most neglected corner of my map.

I've gotten a 6 minute treasure-hunt in which the treasure was placed literally exactly behind me.

And I got a 1 minute treasure hunt where the treasure was over the river.

First one was from a jock villager, the second was an uchi, I believe.
