Leaving space for future shops?

I'm like nowhere close to completely filling out my island so there will definitely be space when new shops arrive. It would actually be helpful because then it helps me with the areas where I don't have an idea yet!

I'm not expecting any new buildings, tbh, but just things to be added to existing ones or made into a separate hub area, a la city folk's city

I have a lot of undecorated areas in, though i wont be able to stick them along with the other shops as there is not enough room for that due to rivers and whatnot

A have a bunch of cafes/hang out area that I can always nuke if I need to, lol.

First time playing AC. For people who have played previous versions - Is this common to add new buildings later on the game?

I really want Brewster so I have a nice spot on the beach ready for if the cafe ever appears... That being said, it's a very empty beach! It feels a little bad leaving it like that so I might just stuff it with things that are easy to remove (so there's minimal terraforming to do, need be...)
