So how do you get the lamp

I saw someone on Tumblr find it on the ground outside, like a lost item, but I'm not entirely sure how they got it.

I haven't seen it in my town personally, but I'm guessing that might be because Saharah's visiting today.

Just walk around your town, someone named "???" will give you the directions on how to get to the lamp! I already have it xD

It was somewhere on the ground for me! He started talking to me and telling me where to go to find the lamp. Then I just picked it up off the ground!

I've looked everywhere, but I can't find anything.

Have you both done anything besides starting up ACNL after updating? Like linking your HHD data or something?

Well, I already have the new storage, I did link my HHD data, and that's pretty much it.

i don't think HHD would have anything to do with it, cos not everyone has HHD, ya know?

Hm... I loaded it up, talked to Isabelle about the new MEOW currency, couldn't find Wisp so I saved and went back to the screen. I saw that there was an HHD option, so I linked that, and then I changed my clock to the correct time (for some reason it was 12 hours ahead?), and then went back in and found Wisp almost immediately...

So... I have no idea. Maybe you have to save and quit, and then go back on?

I open the gift Nintendo sent (an instruction manual), I clicked on it and then almost as soon as I stepped outside, I got the ??? character telling me where to go to find the lamp.

So if anyone is still having trouble, try that.

Lamps not working for me I saved read the book went outside connected to the internet flipped the Wi-Fi switch nothing?

i think it has something to do with perfect town status, i haven't found him and i don't have a perfect town :/

What happens if we have a lamp pre update will that bug out the system?

the genie lamp and the wisp lamp are probably two different items, if that's what you mean

Is it linked to having the storage room expansion built, maybe? I have a perfect town already, and I've tried:

- Saving and restarting.
- Linking HHD.
- Buying the storeroom.
- Getting the campground, then completing all dailies.
- Setting out and using the instruction manual.
- Wandering pretty much every square inch of my town.

It could also just be random, but that'd kinda suck, lol.

I have a perfect town but I don't have it either.
The only thing I haven't done yet is buy the storeroom as I still owe Nook some money for my last room expansion.

tried everything on the thread, and scanned my town completely multiple times, still nothing. my town isnt really developed though?

Next thing i'm doing is going to Mcdonalds has nothing to do with Streetpass or Spotpass but it might work
