Lack of total control over your villagers can be a good thing... no?

My Rowan keeps on wearing this Kungfu dragon tee, and I hate it every time he wears it. I guess it adds to the frustration/charm of the game.

There was also a glitch in game, where the furniture I gifted to a villager multiplied by three. That was very annoying too.

I did love this type of thing in New Leaf because it still felt natural. It was initiated by the villager, only involved one furniture item at a time, and didn't happen too frequently (at least not for me). So everything about it still made the villager seem real. I could picture a friend asking me how to replace a certain item they didn't like anymore or gifting me something they owned but thought I would love more.

When people talk about wanting full control over their villagers' houses, I picture something more like HHD where you design their entire home and I just wouldn't want that. It takes me out of the game. I get that everyone plays Animal Crossing differently and some people do love the game solely for the design aspect, but that's not me so if anything like that were ever implemented I'd want it to be optional.

Agreed, making it optional would be ideal. Someone suggested making it so that we can work in happy home academy and can offer our services to villagers, implementig it this way as a service seems to help make it more natural, and since villagers have favorite colors and styles that can be incoporated as well.

One feature I would like is asking a villager to leave!

I don’t time travel or do anything really to manipulate the process. (Not out of some principle, I’m simply too lazy). But I really wish we can choose. It would really help when the game feels stale or you realize when you are missing a personality type.

I agree that having some randomness is great but there are certain little tweaks I wish we could do like others mentioned. I personally wouldn’t mind having a HHD like style of redecorating our villagers houses but it’d be nice if they’d continue decorating beyond that! Although, I think it should be like a one time or super rare occasion for it to happen. there are some villagers that I personally think deserve a cooler house than they currently have o: for example, Mira used to have an amazing space control center house but now she has some curtains & dinosaurs??? I’d want to be able to shift her house back to space themed and then let her decorate on her own when I gift her pieces of furniture

I’d also use that way to remove random duplicates of items or excessive clothing being displayed (e.g Goldie has 2 beds and no matter what I give her she still has 2 beds..)

Yeah, Gruff ended up with one of those. Not a good look. And Cherry sent Flora an instant muscle suit after a fight. That has to get buried.

I try to gift clothing that fits their styles. Kinda bummed Sally only wore the pink pintuck dress for a bit and then displayed it in her house, but it looks nice. I would like the get the concierge uniform off Cherry's wall, but at least she's started wearing the visual-punk dress I gave her for her birthday.
