is this possible? because i had one spawn in my town before isabelle said that my residents thought my town was perfect. does this just mean that the next day my town will be considered perfect?

I've never heard of that happening. The way I have Jacob's Ladders before a perfect town is by buying them from the lovely people on here! ^-^

I've never heard of that either, or it hasn't happened to me other than when I got the jacob ladders from other people lol. Hmm, maybe you've already hit the perfect town status and you weren't just aware until you saw the jacob's? Also, you can have perfect town today and the next day won't (if you happen to have items laying down or cut a considerable amount of trees/flowers) so it's not permanent. But yeah, seeing them spawn is a sign that your town is perfect, at least for the day.

They spawn only if you have a perfect town.

If you asked Isabelle about your town status and she said it wasn't perfect it means that it was perfect at some point (when it spawned) and that you lost the status shortly after. Have you taken down any trees, flowers, or PWPs lately? Have you built any PWPs that count against the perfect town status? Have you maybe dumped a lot of items in your town?

It happened with me after I've forgot some items which I left in the floor in order to pick more perfect apples when my pockets were full.

It's a good idea to avoid projects like the trashbin for example.

this is so weird yall lmao. it is now the day after i found the jacob's ladder and isabelle still says my town is on the way to being perfect but that residents feel it is a little barren and want more PWP built.

i have not done ANY of these things lmao. as a matter of fact, i've only planted more trees, more shrubs, more flowers, and built two new PWP (two flowerbeds) since i first discovered the jacob's ladder. i've not had any visitors who could have mysteriously dropped it in weeks, and the only PWP that counts against my perfect town status is my illuminated arch, which has been in the same place for weeks and would have been there just the same had i managed to achieve perfect town status and then lost it again.

i have 12 residents. (mayor + gardener + 10 vilagers)
i have ~180 trees, give or take a handful.
i have ~100 flowers, give or take a handful.
i have no weeds or wilted flowers because i have the Beautiful Ordinance in effect.
i have 18 PWP (suspension bridge x3, yellow bench, flower bed x3, water well, fountain, street lamp x5, streetlight, fence, illuminated arch, wind turbine).
i have no items on the ground, and the only buried items be gyroids, fossils, and a single pitfall seed.
i DO have a lot of paths on the ground, but i didn't think paths could count for or against a town's status.

i'm honestly so confused right now because i don't know how i could have gotten it and lost it while simultaneously increasing the number of PWP, flowers, and trees (without hitting the 200 limit).

Are you sure that your town wasn't perfect before you asked Isabelle? Just cuz you asked her then doesn't mean it wasn't perfect beforehand. I'm pretty sure they only spawn if the town is perfect.

almost positive. i've asked her every day because i know it's close to getting perfect status and i want to customize the town hall accordingly. it's possible i could have missed it somehow because i've been TTing and plot resetting, but it seems highly unlikely that it could have gotten perfect town status and i would have missed it, given my perspicacity and just knowing what i know about my town.

but stranger things have happened, and that's the only thing i can assume happened. i'm demolishing the illuminated arch and my streetlamps to make room for new zen streetlamps i want to put in, so i'll keep an eye out.

Thanks. Never considered that. Sure explains their appearance as well as finding those (crap! memory failing) valuable mushrooms

If you're sure you never had a perfect town and you've had people over it's entirely possible they just left you a little present.

Planting more trees can affect PTS - & you say you did this? You can have too many trees.

PWP - you have to have a balance between abundant living and abundant nature & if you have added one/some PWP then you may have affected the balance.

Liquefy explains getting perfect town status very well in his walkthrough faq on gamefaqs, he tells you which PWP are abundant nature, abundant living & the few that help both.

If a visitor did not plant your Jacob's ladder, then at some point you had PTS & lost it - what Isabelle is saying to you is very close to PTS, so I think you just need to tweak your town a little (advice: read relevant section of Liquefy's faq).

i just took a quick look at the guide and it looks like i must have planted too many trees because i was forgetting trees on the beach and wasn't counting bamboo trees as actual trees. i'm going to go through and do some field cutting to see if that will bring me back down to sub-200 tree levels because i KNOW that with counting the bamboo and the beach trees that i have more than 200.

They spawn only if you have a perfect town.

It's possible that the Welcome Amiibo update may have changed that though. Maybe now you can get them to appear if you're close enough. I don't know though since I haven't had any experience with it yet.
