I've just spent 54€ on 4(!) regular amiibo cards

That's ridiculous stop spending money on a flimsy piece of card

I understand :( I spent quite a bit in order to complete my series 5 collection. I refused to pay such as high price for a marshal card though, I got him off here through a trade instead. Just hoping to find a Julian now...
At the end of the day it's no different from any other hobby which costs money. I don't spend on much of anything else these days so I can allow myself to get some cards when I want :)

Same here. I spent to build up some duplicates for series 5 but now I am finding I have enough built up to make trades to start completing the rest, which is nice.

I bought 3 of them because I just want to plot them perfectly (they either already live in my town or I need to go through the 16 cycle to get them again).
Yeah, amiibo cards certainly do have their advantages. But even if that's the case, at the end of the day it's still about what you're willing to do. Even though I too want to make some of my villagers plot better, I'm not willing to pay the price for their amiibo cards on eBay. There are other ways and I use them. I can understand why you did what you did though and I think it's perfectly fine!

I feel you, OP. I've admittedly spent a fair amount on individual cards but thankfully I'm only interested in obtaining my current villagers. I think I'm quite satisfied with my collection now but sometimes I regret it. I just have to keep reminding myself that there's a good chance Nintendo will implement amiibo support for the next AC game, so they'll likely have a use again in the future. But I agree, the prices on popular villagers is just abysmal. I'm not sure how much they were before the Welcome Amiibo update but it couldn't have been anywhere near as much as they are now.

It is a pain, but if the Animal Crossing series continues to do well the cards may increase in value over time. I would keep them in safe place if you become bored with them.

When news of the impending update first dropped, I decided to start preemptively collecting to avoid these ludicrous prices. I'm so glad I did. Ugh, scalpers really frustrate me. I'm sorry you can't find cards at reasonable prices any more.

Do you see Tom Nook breaking into your house at night and threatening you with physical injury if you don't buy these cards? Hmmmm. "The Enforcer" may be a good idea for that other thread that I can no longer recall..... Edit; found it and added this idea.

i thought single amiibo cards would be about 5-15. even for popular villagers.
there are probably some people that have been lucky enough to buy cards for that price or lower but all i see is that they're all like 20 at the lowest

Why so much O.o
I spent like a fraction of that to have Sanrio ones shipped internationally to me.

5-15 what?

$, I'm assuming. Diana was $5, but that was like a once in a lifetime thing. I've seen her and Fauna (my last dream amiibo card) for up to $20. I saw Julian going for $50 and I'm sitting there thinking: "Geez, good thing I got his card randomly in a pack. Who the **** would pay that much?!"

Ebay sellers are the worst human being on earth. I always message them hoping that they die a painful death. The same goes for all resellers from all sites. This is why human being are the worst creature on earth.

ehh it's hard if you want certain villagers.. I mean I live in the UK and can't find any cards to buy locally... I just went to the US and only found ONE shop where I could get amiibo cards of series 1-4. I bought quite a few packs which sure didn't cost me much, but the trip the US cost plenty with flights hotel etc .. so perhaps it's not so bad buying them online if you really want them XD

How on earth can you justify that a single villager card is worth more than an entire game? Have you lost your mind?

The problem with video game is that it makes the person playing it want to buy more things. Save your money. and try to find a much better deal than $54 dollars on 4 regular cards. My gamestop sells them for $4 xd

Its ok. Its good to learn from mistakes.
