It's going to take a lot of miles to unlock everything

This is one of the reasons why some people are hesitant on restarting their islands.

And to some people who already restarted, this is one of their regrets. Because outside of these new ones, there's the older purchases that have to be considered.

From the list above, I think the little triangular topiary is worth 1,000 miles.

/laughs in 700,000 miles😊

On a serious note, I'm really glad they're putting Nook miles to good use. Hopefully we also get more opportunities to spend bells than miles since those are way easier to earn.
Don't worry, the update will also bring some bells sink-machines. At least 1.5 million for the additional storage upgrades (I doubt they'll cost less than the one we got first) + the 7 new hippie caravans + the thousands (millions?) of bells needed to customize all the items with Reese & Cyrus + all the new items on the Cranny. It's probably not going to bother those who have lots of millions on the bank, but it sure is a way to spend lots of bells!

Glad I have so many miles saved. I think about 200k on my main and 90k on my second island. Won’t be getting everything at once. Think the first ones I will get are the cooking and customizing fences.

Good thing I have 111026 Miles then. More than enough. I rarely spend miles. In game stuff I want is mostly IGB, and anything I buy here people usually ask for TBT so they pile up.

160k Miles so i think i'm ready!

Let's go!

Lol I only have around 60k since I haven’t played in almost a year and made a big NMT purchase right before that. I’m not stressed though. I don’t need to have everything unlocked in the first day.

Eep. Thanks for this!!

I have around 60k nook miles atm; for the last hour I've been farming them (thanks OP!). I've made about 12k in the last hour. Hoping that, since I've perfected my method since I started, it'll go a little bit faster now!

Can you share that method?

Someone here made a great point, we've waited a long time for this update, let's enjoy it and take our time. It is the last one! Having a little collection of miles is probably a good idea, but we finally have motivation to play again at all, so we'll earn miles along the way too. It will truly feel like a new beginning of a new game. :D

I reset my island like 2 days ago so I'll have what I have when it comes out.
I'm not going to stress.

The content will be there until the end of time.
Or my switch breaks.
What ever comes first.
For people who just restarted too, it’s alright because they don’t need all of these things at once at that point in the game anyway. Like who needs extra inclines and bridges when you barely even unlocked terraforming right? 😆 You will naturally have enough nook miles to buy whatever you need when the time comes that you need them. There’s no need to rush. :)

Actually I would have to disagree on that one!
I would say early stages are the most important time for extra inclines as its at a stage in the game where the island isn't terraformed at all and so it's all up to you what happens.

There are no items placed down.
No houses set.

Early game is when a player starts working out what they want for their island.

I had an island once where it turned out I did need 10 inclines so all my early planning went out the window.

i have around 30k nook miles right now so ill be able to get all the expansions and diy stuff, i dont need most of the new items though so im not worried about grinding more of them

Can you share that method?
Sure!

I'm a time traveler, so this won't work if you don't do that.

Spoilered in case others don't want to see or do this
To begin:

1. Set the date to 1/01/2021 (New Year's Day), time whatever starting out. If you're just starting the method, 12pm is best in case you get the talk to 3 villagers task for 1000 nook miles.

2. Start the day and check Resident Service's ATM. You automatically get 500 nook miles because of the holiday.

3. After checking the ATM, check your current Nook mile tasks. I only do easy ones like watering flowers, catching snowflakes, hitting rocks, and especially talking to villagers since they gather at Town Hall. I'll also sell fruit if the shop is open.

4. After doing the easy tasks, save and quit the game. On the screen that says "Saving complete, thanks for playing" or something along those lines, minimize the game without closing that prompt and set the time to 4:59am, then quickly hit the home button, go back to your game, close that prompt, and load the game again.

As soon as you walk out of your house, the day should roll over to the 1st again and you unlock new tasks and can check the ATM again!

If you get the task that gives you 1000 Nook miles for talking to villagers at 5am, it is ALWAYS worth it to save and close the game and change the time to 12:00pm on that day.
