It annoys me how...

I wrote a long thing but it diverges off topic and into my personal beliefs. The point of it was that I don't want to see people bashing others faith. I might not have faith of my own, but I respect those who do.

I totally forgot who said this, but it was "I don't agree with what you have to say, but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it." (Paraphrased?) That could apply here. I don't totally agree with Gay/Lesbian Marriages, but everyone should be treated equally. Like it was said, it's a new kind of racism. It's like hating someone because they like pie instead of cake.

Sidenote: And also, show me the proof against what the Bible says. Show me it's not true (in PM). You can't back it up with evolution, the big bang, etc. because they're all just theories.

First of all, you're the one making the claims about the Bible. It's not my job to tell you why they aren't true, it's your job to show me that they are. You can't just say, "They've all been proven true."

And you're confusing the scientific use of the word "theory" with the layman's. In science, a theory is an overarching principle used organize and explain evidence, you're confusing it with a hypothesis or guess. You don't dispute cell theory, germ theory, or atomic theory, and I will tell you why you don't: they don't directly contradict what the Bible says. I'm not sure where you stand exactly on your beliefs about the cosmos, but I will tell you this: evolution is not the only thing proving the world is older than 6000 years.

The reason evolution is considered evil by the fundamentalists is for that simple reason. The theory of evolution was widely accepted, even in America, until the fundamentalist-modernist schism in the early 20th century, where we see the development of the more *ahem* ignorant denominations of Christianity.

But are you born gay or what? Because if you are then that's kinda of sad.
Could be, but I'm sure you've heard of something called nature versus nurture. Most behaviors arise from an interplay between genes and environment. But I really take issue with the whole "born with it" or "it's a choice" stuff. It shouldn't matter, that's not the issue at hand here. Being gay and loving someone should be unflinchingly acceptable, even if they choose to be that way.

Seriously, No religious discussion. All I'm going to say is that keep your opinions to yourself, at the end of the day no one actually knows the real truth.

If you silence discussion, then of course no one is going to know the real truth at the end of the day. Like-minded people should strive to illuminate the truth, not shy away from things because it might get a bit unpleasant.

And I'm sorry, but I wasn't aware you were a moderator or the topic starter, not that I would be any more likely to listen to you.

I am acutely aware of the rules, and I realize why they are in place. Clearly some people can't handle a religious discussion, or any argument, really, but it takes a lot for me to become angry enough to lash out.

Like when I call someone a creep for saying they want to turn a billion brown people into radioactive dust. Which is apparently going too far.

So otherwords you don't believe God created the earth. I'm confused... So you're contradicting yourself. (This isn't for you Carl, but feel free to comment.) It's either all or nothing. You can't say "Well I believe partly what the Bible says." or "I believe partly what the Koran says." etc. It shows that there is a part that you disagree with in the Christian religion. And the beginning of the earth can't change overtime. You can't say "Well, it used to be that God created the Earth and Adam and Eve, but now since the ages are different, it started by evolution." Whether you believe in evolution or Christianity, or even the flying spaghetti monster, you should stick to your faith and not blow part of it away to stay in touch with the times.

Look, I doubt that anyone here will be able to change someones opinions. So lets stop debating.
