Welcome to Island Oasis, a little sliver of paradise located in the Northern hemisphere, close to North America. It is a small under developed Island, full of Cherry Trees, Pansies, and Weeds, and has recently fallen under the management of Nook Inc.'s CEO Tom Nook, and his nephews Timmy, and Tommy Nook. They along with some other hopeful settlers (Curly, Deidre, Angel, and Mommy), plan on turning this deserted island into the perfect Island Getaway. This is there Story.

-------
Feel free to leave comments, I plan on trying to tell this from more of a story/journal perspective. We will see how it goes. Also I am not the most creative when it comes to lay outs, so sorry if you get tired with the basic style of reporting, I will look into things, learn and update as I go.

Day One
Date: May 14, 2020

Dear Diary,
Ariving at the Airport.jpg
I never thought I would be standing here, on an airplane landing dock at a previously deserted island in the middle of the Northern Hemisphere somewhere around North America. There looked to be only six of us all together, three raccoons (Tom, Timmy and Tommy Nook), one pig (Curly), and one Deer (Deirdre), and me. There was talk about another resident that might join by the name of Mommy, but she had not arrived yet.

We were all bid to come to the main plaza for a short orientation on island life. With that came our very first task. Setting up our tents, armed with a tent kit and a map, we were sent out to explore and claim a little piece of island for our very own. Hemmed in by Rivers, and no way to forage made sure that we stuck within reasonable distance of the plaza.
setting up tent.jpg
After several minutes, I settled on a sheltered little bend of the river, with a cliff at my back. It seemed peaceful, and I was looking forward to falling asleep, and waking up with the rivers soothing melody in my ears. Already I could feel the stress of my city life melting away. It didn't matter on this small island who I was, or what I did. It didn't even manner that I had no bells to my name, all that mattered was that I was here. I headed back to the plaza to meet with everyone, and receive our next task. For Curly, Timmy, Tommy, and Deirdre it was to ready the plaza for our welcoming bonfire. For Tom and I.....well mostly I, it was to gather 10 branches, and 6 cherries so that the night could end memorably.
island naming2.jpg
Once all preparations were complete, Tom had the brilliant idea that we should be the first to name the island and make it feel a little more like home. Everyone had interesting suggestions, but it was that night that Oasis was truly born. It is my hopes and dreams that Oasis will truly be a place of rest and relaxation, a place of peace, but more importantly a home to all those who live their.

After a long night of sipping cherry juice, and Curly's tambourine music, I settled in for the night, eager to see what tomorrow would bring.

Special Note. This game was started May 15, 2020. However, I backed the journal up one day, due to the way the orientation works to fit it with the story lines, this will be the only time this is done, so these events and the following days events all happened at the same time. Pretty straight forward, but I decided to note it so there was no confusion.

Day Two
Date: May 15, 2020

Dear Diary,

debt.jpg

The next morning dawned crisp and clear, when Tom met me at my tent. You see, just because I didn't have a Bell to my name, did not mean that my debt was forgiven. I went into this fully aware that I would be selling my manual labor to cover my expenses to the island. What expenses, you may ask. Why a whopping 5,000 miles worth. Tom also gave me information and a free DIY course he was teaching later that day. With that in mind, I knew what needed to be done. To pay of my debt I would need tools, and to get the tools, I would need to make the, so I agreed to stop by after I washed up for the day.

all my catches1.jpg

Tom taught me how to make a fishing rod, and a net, and it was then the great collecting expedition began. I spent the rest of the day catching, and cataloging every insect and fish I saw. I also gathered up sticks and rocks, plucked weeds, harvested fruit, and combed the beach for seashells all in the name of paying of my debt. Along the way Tom took charge of five of the fish and bugs I brought in and sent them to someone called Blathers. Apparently the buy ran a museum and was always looking for donations. In fact, Blathers got so excited he decided to join our little family here at Oasis. Tom had me help pick a place for his tent before declaring me debt FREE!

debt free.jpg

Of course he immediately tried to talk me into a house, but I decided to wait for a little bit. You see, my campsite was pretty barren as it was, I needed it to feel a little more like home, and besides I just got out of debt, it could keep for a few days. It was time to put my DIY skills to the test one more time before bed.

Day Three
May 16 2020

Dear Diary,

May 16.jpg

I woke up that morning to Tom Nook giving morning announcements.
He also had some interesting news, Blathers, his best friend would be joining us on Oasis today,
he apparently had set up his tent sometime during the night while we were all asleep.
Guliver First Visit.jpg

He was not the only new visitor on the island either, on my way to introduce myself to Blathers,
I ran into this curious fellow on the beach. He went by the name Guliver,
apparently he had fallen asleep, and then overboard his boat.
He promptly asked me to help him locate his five missing locator peices so he could go home.

Blathers Tent.jpg

may 16 collection.jpg

Before I could do that however, I would need a shovel, as they were buried underneath the sand somewhere.
Luckily, I knew just were to get one, surely a archaeologist like Blathers would have a shovel he could lend me.
Not only did he have a shovel. he also gifted me with a vaulting pole.
Aparently it is his dream to open a museum here on Oasis, but to do that he needs at least fifteen exibits.
By helping me explore the island better, he is also hoping I will help donate the bugs, fish, and fossils I find.
Something that should not be too hard to accompish. But first.....

first DIY Idea.jpg

I needed to find those locator parts for Guliver. It seemed that it would not be quiet an easy feat however,
I dug up these little clam like creatures more often than not,
it did however give me a interesting idea on fish bait.
ocrania.jpg

After I was done helping Guliver, and I completed another round of bug and fish hunting,
I decided to unwind in town center, by plating my Ocarina. Timmy did not appreciate my playing however,
So I think I need a little more practice.
blathers donations.jpg

Rest Time over, Mommy and I unloaded our fish and bugs onto Blathers,
he was shocked on how much we already collected, and sadly he could not take it all, however
with our help he reached his goal. He promised to take the rest upon completion of
the museum.

After all that ferrying creatures back and forth....do you know how much a tank full of water weighs,
I settled in for a much deserved nap.

Later on that evening, while I was off fishing, and bug hunting.....I will catch you Darner Dragonfly,
Mommy had found my camera and took a bunch of candid shots as she tried to figure out how to use it.

She is excited to be able to start sharing her own memories, and I will try to feature a few here off an on for her.

I wrapped up the day by watching the sunset at the beach, and spending time by the bonfire, just Mommy and Me....
hey that mysteriously sounds like a book title......

Day Four
May 17 2020

Dear Diary,

Inside house.jpg

I woke up this morning to a new house. It is not much to go on yet, but I find it more than enough.
I finally feel as if I am putting down roots on this island, I cannot wait to see how it grows and changes with time.
And to think, I get to be apart of it all.
I am so glad that I signed up for this package.

Museum constrution.jpg

Outside my house however, things are not so pretty, I am eagerly awaiting the museum to open,
all these fish and bugs are slowly taking over my front yard.

sunrise.jpg

Waking up so early has its benefits as well, I just love catching the early morning sunrises,
almost as much as the sunsets, and twinkling starry evenings. These are prehaps
some of my favorite time of day to be out and about.

first dodo.jpg

I was in for a treat today, Tom Nook awarded me with a Nook Miles Ticket,
he said I could use it to visit some of the surrounding islands. This was a promtional
getaway, and after that, I would need to pay 2000 miles to go again, needless to say
I took the first available flight.

first island.jpg
first island 2.jpg

The island was beautiful, and a nice change of pace, however I was not expecting to meet anyone else there.
Curious I went over to introduce myself and see who this other person was, and why they were there.

first villager (Norma.jpg

I found out her name was Norma, a pretty normal cow, who had decided to visit the island as well.
She was greatly interested in my island and I decided to invite her back. She said she would talk to Tom Nook
and consider it.
That is not the only thing I did on this island however, Timmy and Tommy had asked me to help them collect
30 Wood, Softwood, Hardwood and Iron to open up the shop. I spent many harvesting hours in order to complete the order.

shop placement.jpg

I was so looking forwards to the new shop, it would offer much more in
the terms of furniture and other items.

----------------------------------------
AN: I tend to like my village to seem alive with people going and coming on their own.
To accomplish this, I will allow animals to leave when they ask, and try to invite campers when given the option.
I will not grind or island hop, or reset to get villagers I want. Instead I will let each character, grow evolve, and find a special place in my heart and yours.

Day Five
May 18 2020

Dear Diary,

nooks cranny ceremony.jpg
Musuem ceremony.jpg

We started our fifth day by celebrating the grand opening of Nook's Cranny and the Museum.
I can finally buy new items for my house....in three more hours, and get my yard back.
WOOT WOOT!
may 18 collection.jpg
first donation.jpg

My first donation a humble little killifish, enjoy your new forever home little guy. I promise Blathers
will take better care of you then I ever did. And you will have much more space to swim around and be free.

first Lief.jpg

In other news, I met a sloth by the name of Leif today, he apparently sells
bushes, saplings, and rare flower seeds. Needless to say I stocked up on a few things. The best news however,
he buys weeds for twice the going rate. Sign me up.

Later on when I went to pay off some of my debt, Tom stopped me.
Apparently he was not done with me just yet. He wanted me to build a bridge, and
place 3 new housing plots...….this type of work must of been listed in the fine print.

Wendy.jpg

I managed to somehow meet a Peppy little sheep, and get stung by wasps on my daily Island Tour, I decided to
get out and enjoy the fresh air at least once a day. Today must not of been my day. When I returned however, I got a chance
to visit Curly, and Deidra who upgraded their tents, to houses as well.

First up Curly, and then Diedra

Reading your journal makes me almost want to start over. I love the beginning of this game where you start to build your island from nothing. But then I keep thinking of all my DIYs and I can't.

I guess I'm just going to have to keep living vicariously through you lol.

BTW, I've never had her, but Deirdre is so cute! She's growing on me.

I like her alot to. And even Curly has grown on me, though I didnt like him at first. I plan on doing another day or two to finish catching up. And I know the pain of losing DIYs through reset. I actually have reset. I missed the beginning of my first island in March. Never took screen shots...and my mom wanted to play. Figured it was something fun we could do together. So took the plunge and reset it. Its been a blast and I am glad I did. I got cherries....which is my favorite fruit and I feel connected to this map in a way I wasnt with my first one.

That does sound like a nice thing to do with someone:)

I also regret not taking any screenshots during my early game. At the very least it would have been cool to have a before and after of the map. If I ever do start a new island I'm taking pics like crazy! Pics of everything!

The before and after map pics will be nice. I plan on taking a pic of my map lay out once a month and update/ record plans on it and post. See how things change and grow. If you do restart. Do like I did dont rush to unlock things. They will come I really enjoyed living in a tent again and all the other little quirks of a brand new island.
