Island Hopping VS Buying Villagers?

I have a bunch of amiibo cards for my favourites so I don't need to do either really, but I did enjoy island hopping for villagers a lot in the beginning of the game. I kinda miss not having someone there when I island hop for resources.

I’ve only bought/ traded 2 villagers. I feel like villagers nowadays are too expensive, so I prefer finding them on my own

I much prefer island hopping since I don't have a set dreamie list. It makes it fun to find ones that you're looking for and makes it really rewarding when you finally do!

Both is fine to me, although island hopping is actually kinda more fun to do for me. After all, I was able to find 4 of my current villagers via island hopping, another one was found via campsite and two got traded/bought here from the forums. The others are random move in's which will be replaced however.

I'm 50/50 on this because I do enjoy finding your dream villagers by chance and I feel extremely accomplished as opposed to just buying them off of somebody however it can be quite a task to find a certain villager island hopping but usually I'm not looking for someone specific so I prefer island hopping and it can be addicting LOL!

i prefer island hopping. it’s tedious and requires a lot of luck but i feel much more satisfied and love my villagers more if i find them myself rather than buying them off of someone ;w;

If you only have a few dream villagers you are looking for, I would purchase a villager so I could guarantee getting them. If you are open to a big roster of villagers and can afford to do it, island hopping can be a lot of fun!
