Island evals - maintaining 5 stars?

This has probably been discussed before but, when you have a five star, do you have to maintain five stars throughout the day or is there a specific time that the game 'checks' your rating (ie re: getting lily of the valley to spawn?) I've taken to having turnip gardens and picking up my turnips before the 5 am turnaround to get below the 15 item litter limit and get my five star back, but I'm not exactly sure if it does any good

I just want to have turnip gardens and litter star frags all around, dang it

As you surmised, the rating is taken during the 5AM reset, so everything can be a hot mess all day as long as it's cleaned up before 5AM!

Edited to add - as far as I know. star frags are regarded as natural ground items, and don't count against your rating. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not.

Isabelle will tell you at any time if your rating goes up or down but I don't believe it effects things like lilly of the valley rates until the next day

I recently got a 5 star rating probably due to the abundance of fences and my island is not even properly laid out. I think I'll try to get at least 5 Jacob's Ladders before I mess it up again.

Good luck, friend!! I had one spawn (which was the only reason I knew I'd hit five star in the first place) but now I can't get them to pop up with with picking up all my litter XD

Thanks. I only found out when I went on my campsite and saw the flower next to it. Today's the 3rd day since I received 5 stars and I still only have one. How long does a new one usually spawn?

Ah that's good to know that it just needs to maintain at 5 stars for the 5am new day! I really want at least a small patch of the lily of the valleys. They are so so pretty! I've had two spawn in my first week and now just waiting for number 3.... :/
