With all the new additions promised through the datamine, including two new museum shops, should I bother terraforming? I was about to embark on a thought out museum area, but now I'm concerned if I do my area, will the update force me to destroy everything and rebuild??

really with the datamining, it's no guarantee that it's coming in the very next update. all we can speculate with the datamining is that we'll 'eventually' get those things! until nintendo makes an official announcement, I wouldn't worry about it. I'd say get to work on your town, but maybe keep spaces in mind for eventual potential buildings?

the thing is, i'm not sure the new features (if they're added at all - remember, not everything from a datamine ends up in the game) will be added in this upcoming update. they're going to be rolling out many updates throughout the year for the different events, and i imagine they'll also be steadily introducing new features that way. the april update is coming very soon so you might as well wait for that one, but beyond that, i wouldn't recommend waiting when there's no guarantee if/when things will be added.

Do what feels right to you but I caution you using the word promised because nothing is promised or guaranteed unless it has been announced by nintendo. Anything that is seen through the datemine you have to take with a grain of salt but can still exciting to see.

Personally, I would wait until the update just to be on the safe side. You also might have a new idea/vision and totally scrap your original idea ( #me ).
Although I have terraformed my town a lot, I luckily have a lot of empty areas if they decide to add a lot of new buildings. From what I have seen on the forums, some people may have to adjust their town/rearrange things in order to fit the new shops.

Just do what you want and if you end up having to change it then do so! If you wait for EVERYTHING nintendo has up their sleeve to terraform you'll never be able to.

The fun of terraforming is being able to change things up whenever you want. There's no rush c: if you end up not liking it or wanting to put something new there just change it up

You can also just plan out a general area you'd WANT to put those buildings and avoid it. terraforming takes a long time anyway

I am hesitant, too! I was about to start a big project near my shopping district but i dont feel like doing it only to tear it all up if they are gonna add extra shops soon. I guess waiting a little more to see what is gonna be added in the new update wont hurt, but even if you start now, you might be easily able to alter it later for the new buildings.

I totally feel the same OTL. I have designed very little of my town, and I want to wait, but also my town is mostly mpty space and flowers rn. I want to see my villagers having fun in parks and a concert area, but what if I make those and then need to destroy them later :'3c this game stresses me out ajkhfkjshd

Even without the prospect of extra shops I'm so freaking overwhelmed :c I might just tear down all my cliffs and start with NOTHING

I already finished my marketplace and museum area so I'm basically boned if new buildings are added lol

i'm gonna hold off on terraforming because i'm hopeful and very bad at it

Yep, like others said - Nintendo did not promise anything from the datamine stuff. All they promise is the Earth Day holiday and "other features", which we don't know what they are yet. They could be some or all of the datamined features. Or they could be something else and the datamined stuff is coming later.

The update is probably coming later tonight (judging on the soon to be happening maintenance) and Earth Day is on Wednesday. You don't have long to wait. You may as well just in case.

The update (if/when) won't make the building exteriors any bigger, so you should feel safe in executing any plans you have.

Or, you can wait. Up to you.

The issue isn't that. The issue is if the update introduces a new feature that'll take up land (farming) or adds additional buildings (Museum shop/cafe), it can mess up prior plans.

Yeah I'm not so sure either, I don't want to spend lots of bells moving stuff around before knowing how these new features will be implemented. If the new museum additions are standalone buildings, I won't know where to put them till I see them. I hope just the cafe has it's own building. What would the shop even contain that they'd have to make a separate building for? Guess all we can do is wait and see.

This is the ONE gripe I have with them not releasing all the features at once. I don't mind waiting for updates, but spending all my money and time (I'm not a TTer so moving stuff/building stuff is SLOW) to get the layout the way I want it just to have to rip it all up again and rearrange everything due to a new building being added in is... Really demotivating.

If it's museum related, you can take it to the bank that it won't be an exterior addition, rather, something added inside the existing infrastructure. Nintendo won't be releasing any major updates this soon after launch, especially things that take up additional space.

Personally speaking, I'm struggling to find room for all the things we already have, let alone anything new they plan to add in the future.

Edit: Just read the datamine post. Yuck to farming. Just absolutely yuck.

I'd just keep going with what you're doing, if your plans need to change, they'll change. It'll give you something to do, and sometimes its best not to over prepare.

With all the new additions promised through the datamine,

Here's the key: nothing was promised. Just because it's in the data doesn't mean it's a feature that will ever come to the final game. It could just as easily be cut or changed content, or stuff we won't see for months and months.

My two cents? Go wild. Everything is easy enough to change later.

The dataminer specifically states that the museum shop/cafe despite being labeled with "museum" are standalone buildings.
