Is there no way I can display more than 10 patterns at a time?

Seems like I can only have 10 active patterns at a time, despite Mable letting me save many more.

That is, unfortunately, the case. The best thing you can do is just save all the patterns you want to keep with Mable and swap them around whenever you need a specific pattern.

Can you create extra characters to create/display patterns with them?

Extra characters is the way to go to bump up the number of patterns you can have to 40. Also note that changing a pattern will not reflect some others such as your town flag.

That's what I ended up having to do. I have a mayor in one town and two other alts who store the different qr patterns for paths and other stuff.
