Is there a surefire way to make a villager ping you?

I heard from Marshal that Cookie wants to move, and moving is strictly outlawed for her.
I need her to talk about moving so I can convince her out of it, and I've been aggressively walking past her in an attempt to make her ping me. No matter how much I talk to her normally, she won't talk about moving either.
Asterisk is a wonderland. Why do you want to leave?
Plus, I paid for you.

So is there a way I can force Cookie to ping me?
And if not, will she eventually bring up moving in a normal conversation?

If you have a wetsuit, swim in the ocean and stay idle in one of the bottom corners in your town. Remain there for approximately 5 minutes. Once that is done, swim back to your town. If you have done this correctly the villager pings have now been reset. You will want to find Cookie while avoiding other villagers, then get into her sight. She should hopefully ping you about moving.

and moving is strictly outlawed for her.

Ha, nice, I have some of these villagers who are like that too (no Sterling you can never leave).

I've made a modified version of the diving trick, while it still uses the same principle. So, you want Cookie to ping you. When you start your new day, tall to her first, ignore all the other villagers (unless they ping you). Once you've talked to her, talk to each of the other animals outside once. Remember where they generally are. Now go to a part of town (I find it don't work as well if you go on the beach) where the animals can't see you. Usually I choose a secluded corner of town, behind a tree or building. As long as they don't see you. Wait 5-7 mins, then go find Cookie to talk to, and don't let the other animals see you. If she doesnt ping you, go walk in front of the other animals. If they ping you just talk to them. Once you've talked to them, go back to hiding. Wait 5-7 mins again, then go walk in front of Cookie again. If she still don't ping you, wall in front of the other animals.

The idea is that since you've talked to Cookie first, then all the other animals, Cookie will want to ping you, since she was the last one to see you. I also find that while I was doing somethin constructive, like planting starts, the animals were more likely to ping me. It's like they sense that you're force pinging them and don't like it when you just stand around doing nothing.

Just save and quit and make sure Cookie is the first villager you see when you go back into your town so the others can't ping you first. However,if you haven't spoken to her for a long time you'll have to talk to her before she'll ping.

If you want to be sure to see Cookie when you get out of the ocean when doing the diving trick, you can trap her by digging holes around her so she can't escape... :) Also remember that when doing the diving trick & no-one's pinging you, you might have to walk up to a villager yourself so they can advise you to take some rest. After that you'll be able to get pinged again.

I would try talking to her. I find a lot of times if you don't speak to a villager for awhile, they're less likely to ping you. So, try talking to her at least once and then save and quit. It should do the trick.
